Saved up my money after I graduated high-school and because I'm young and dumb I bought a 2007 335i e90 in 2019. At the time I wasn't educated enough about these cars which had me struggling for a while, but it motivated me to self-educate about BMW. It's been a wild ride so far because the previous owner didn't take care of it. It's a wonderful project though. Currently saving up for something reliable as a daily. Thinking of the new Toyota GR86

Good thread here! My first BMW was a 1973 2002. Malaga red with tan interior. Bought it in 1993 for $3,000 at the time. Loved that car, and mounted E21 alloys and Recaro seats. Never could quite get the Metric Mechanic cars running quite right. Lack of a fifth gear for the freeways along with lacking A/C in inland Southern California meant I just couldn't justify keeping it. Also no way to financially justify keeping a third car at the time right out of university, so ended up selling it in 1996 for the same $3,000 I bought it for. Whoever bought it got a damn good car! I used the proceeds to buy a '91 325iX which was another great car for another thread. The rest as they say, is history...

I remember when my best friend in high school got a manual 1982 240d mercedes that I thought was sweet. Had classic lines and an iconic story in Europe. I followed him with a less classic but still a euro mercedes with a manual c240. I sold the mercedes and bought the 15 x5 I have now, funny enough my same buddy followed me into a BMW with a 128. Guess we both are just following eachother's lead... until he bought a porsche last year and I'm not sure I can keep up anymore...

I really enjoy the bells, whistles and drive, but I’m still trying to get used to it after 3 months.

1989 E30
Bought it in 1993 from a coworker. It felt like no other car I'd ever driven.

I've owned a BMW ever since!

I was so excited when I finally purchased my new 2013 M6. It was everything I had ever wanted and more. I couldn't wait to take it for a spin and show it off to all of my friends.

Now I wished i had just waited a bit longer and got the m6 Gran Coupe.

The first BMW I had, although it was a company car.
It's the one on the right ;-)

BMW 116d efficient dynamics in mineral grey including comfort pack + Xenon headlights.
I had such pleasure driving this car!! Now, ~10 years later, I'll have my own brand new 3-series (G21) in the same color! Can't wait!

Before anyone would mention something about the license plates.
At the time of the picture, I still lived in Belgium hence the Belgian license plate. Now I live in Poland.

I know you've heard it before from somebody, anybody, "I remember the first time when....". Well, as BMW enthusiasts I know everyone remembers the first "Beemer" or Bimmer" they had and unless you lived where everyone but God had one, just having a BMW, beat up or not, indelibly made you "The Man" amongst your crowd.

Well, that being said, I'll start this thread with the first Beemer I ever owned and invite all of you to share your fond memories and/or stories of the car that set your BMW infatuation into motion!

In '96 after 3 tours in the Army(9 yrs), I decided that it was time for me to head back to the civilian world. Uncle Sam at the time decided that "downsizing" was necessary and to coerce some people out, was offering severance pay and a few years more of additional benefits to say, "Adios!". Well, I took that offer. They handed me 20G's and I bought this '82 320i for 4K. A buddy of mine who'd come from Germany brought this car back with him and like us was an enthusiast and what do most enthusiast do to their cars? Mod it! For the time, this baby was tuned and in the first week that I had it damn near got thrown in the can for wreckless driving, but managed to get just a speeding ticket for being a veteran. I was just coming down from around 120 on I70 just north of Manhattan, KS, give or take a few mph when that Kansas trooper busted my ass. Damn I miss this car. Good times!
The BMW I own right now is my first BMW, and it is a 2016 BMW X1 (f48) xdrive28i and I absolutely love it. But I’m having some issues with the monitor right now

I’ve done some custom wrap on my driver and passenger door by myself to make it even cooler and I’ve done some custom modifications other than that including all of the chrome paneling I’ve blacked out with either gloss or matte black or carbon fiber and I keep finding new things to do with it
