My other bikes are all dedicated road/gravel with clipless pedals. I need something simple to round out the stable. This will work until bikes are back in stock.
same here, and same here. looking for an in between bike. this is on my list too. so many options, and none to test. torture lol

If you were just a tad closer to CA, I’d say stop by and visit a local homeless encampment. I’m sure they have all sorts of bikes that you could ride. Lol

The LBS had a Marlin 6 in stock in my size, so I grabbed that instead. Should have it built and ready to roll for the weekend. Bike #4 in the stable.

We finally have a paved bike trail. When it's all done, it'll be 11 miles of paved trail and a mile or so of gravel at one end. I had most of it to myself last night.

Yeah, there were a few folks out walking/jogging. The path is way busier on the weekend.

Wow, nice. You get your exercise and your daily dose of electromagnetic radiation at the same time!

How is it? I’ve been eyeing that model too. Half road, half trail, half dirt. Haha

Haven't picked it up yet. I'm hoping to hear from them soon. He did say he'd have it ready for me today.

EDIT: Got the bike, but now we have t-storms rolling through, so a ride will have to wait.

First day with the Marlin went well. Got the saddle height set to my specs, so it's much easier to ride now. I did ten miles tooling around local roads while dialing it in and then did 15 miles along the bike trail. I need to try the tougher trails around the local lake. The ability to lock out the front shock is ample reason to get the Marlin 6 over the Marlin 5. Plus the 2x8 gearing is all you'll likely need . The 3x7 on the 5 is way overkill. For $100 more, the Marlin 6 is a much better bike, IMO.

glad to hear in it! Agreed on the gearing. I’m looking for a 1x or 2x. Like the idea of the locked suspension too.
Let’s see. My list now includes:
Marlin 6 or 7
Dual sport 4
Cannondale trail 4
Salsa timberjack
Specialized evo if it’s out soon.

The 2021 Marlin 7 has a sweet looking 1x. That would have been my preference, but I would have had to order it and I wouldn't have received it until November. Trek is that far behind. But just from riding a few hills today, I can't see the need for the small ring on my 6. Granted, I didn't hit the really steep hills around here yet, but the one hill where I went to the small ring, I was spinning air on most of the rear gears. The trails around our local lake have some "bedroom wall" hills, so maybe the extra gears will come in handy there.

I have a Colnago Master PIU 90's era and a Cannondale Synapse Hi-MOD Disc 2018. I need to get out and ride.

Seriously. What's the rear cluster range? Looks pretty tight. No hill climber gears there.

I bought the Colnago Master PIU frame from Colorado Cyclist in early April, 2000, and due to finances at the time, had Colorado Cyclist build the bike kit with Ultegra. I always regretted not putting Italian components on an Italian classic, at least in my opinion, and now it is hard to find much of anything in silver to match the chrome.

The gears were fine 20 years ago but not so much now.

Any really nice mounts for hanging a bicycle in your home ?

I moved into a condo and want to hang a bike in my den/office.

I just picked up a decently reviewed Chinese carbon frame. Am I going to die?
