Dave, I prefer this one though. I have to watch it during break every day.
Airbus 332 destination Honolulu. Took some of the F22 flying around but it left from the main airport. I might be able to fix that this weekend. I got my Canadian F18 plane though

It's uncommon, with both white-tail and mule deer, but it occurs about one in a hundred. It's called drop-tine and it's considered "non-typical".

Great shots, guys.
Spent a few hours today walking around Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Beautiful campus. Grabbed this candid of a couple in front of the performance hall. It was a flawless autumn day. Northwestern University by Mark Johnson, on Flickr

Since there was a strong, cool wind coming off the lake and tons of sunshine, I was hoping for a nice clear shot of Chicago from the lakefront at NU. The haze was stubborn, though and just wouldn't lift all the way. Maybe it was more smog than haze. I cleaned this up as best I could.

I hate the haze too and hit all my sliders when I have to clean things up. My monitor sees some Magenta haze remaining. Could try a B/W conversion and then play with the rest of the colors to bring in a good shot. It worked for me on a few shots.

What is that hawk, Ed? A dark-morph red-tail, or something else?
Great shot.

Had a blast taking this, maybe got some of our members in this.
ACL Flyover by Shane I have a couple more at some different settings, I but I wish I could get that noise down a lot more (may not be possible with the ISO it was shot at).

Great, fun shot, Shane. Were you in a chopper or a plane?
Yes, you probably could have shot this at ISO 800, 1/2500-sec and f/8. You really didn't need the DOF of f/22, because you were high above the subject. You do need a high shutter speed for a chopper. What NR did you apply? If you shot in Raw, then it'd be worth running it through DxO Optics Pro, but the NR in Digital Photo Professional (the Raw converter that came with your camera, is pretty good). I'm not sure what you're processing with, but "Clarity" in LightRoom will cut some of that haze. ClearView in DxO will do it.

I'm not familiar with auto AF. Does it select the number of points based on subject, or what?

Bonneville Salt Flats
Another major car guy bucket list item from my road trip back in August/September. We actually went over to the lookout off of I-80 (where this shot was taken) as well as to the entrance of the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway. The salt flats were more picturesque from this location, though. I was afraid to blow out the highlights since there was too much white around and ended up underexposing most of my shots there. Thanks to the 6D picking up shadows is no big deal. I processed this for noise (mostly in the sky) in DXO 11 and then LR CC for the rest. Bonneville Salt Flats by Dmitriy Khaykin, on Flickr |
