I don't understand it either. At the Masstown Market, they get it in lengths of a few feet and you just order what you want. But they often run out.

Good looking Thanksgiving dinners to the northerners!

Meanwhile, a culinary visit to Japan.

Dinner tonight was bonito flakes, sorry no pics.

Bonito flakes, katsuobushi (鰹節)
Nori (海苔)
Sticky rice, mochigome (もち米)
Toasted sesame oil
Tamari (たまり)
Sesame seeds

Make one portion of sticky rice, place in a bowl, sprinkle sesame seeds and drizzle with sesame oil and tamari. Add a small handful of nori, then a handful of bonito flakes. Drizzle more sesame oil and tamari to taste.

Great flavors, easy to make and healthy. Bonito flakes, nori, rice and tamari were sourced from a Japanese grocery. Sesame oil and sesame seeds were sourced from a middle-eastern/Arabic grocery. I think Indian or east Asian groceries would also have sesame oil and sesame seeds.

Spring onions and pickled ginger could be added as garnishes.

So my lovely bride is in Halifax with the middle one for Thanksgiving, I'm holding down the fort with the dogs.

Lettuce & tomatoes from the garden, candied pecans, blue cheese and a lovely steak with balsamic vinaigrette for my dinner. Not turkey, but not bad. The dogs love it when I do steak. Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends.
