And GB. And a ton of other places. The pentaband GSM has been available for a bit overseas. There was some BS with Google and making this a VZW exclusive, so even though the pentaband GSM version covers T-Mo and AT$T (yeah even fake 4G HSPA+), the phone is not for sale here, subsidized or outright.
This is starting to hardly look like a real Nexus phone. All this shit is exactly stuff the Nexus was supposed to have nothing to do with. At least, that's how I understood it. |

You can buy the unlocked version from Newegg for.... $699
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...bles-_-na-_-na Price is pretty steep, but I guess not that too far off from Iphones without a contract or any other top of the line phone (and you get it before its released)

Picked up mine today...pretty sweet. I like it a lot better than my iPhone 3GS already. The screen is ridiculously big and the user interface is really easy to get used to...i.e. I'm not wasting much time searching for keys and functions that I was used to on my iPhone. Early indications are that the battery life is not so hot...I heard a guy in front of me buying an extended life battery so maybe there is some sort of upgrade available.
A warning to all those looking for the Galaxy Nexus: DO NOT BUY DIRECT FROM A VERIZON FRANCHISE!!!!! They will charge you $299 for the phone...if you are switching from another carrier you can get the phone for $189 from Radio Shack or Best Buy...I figured this out after the fact and I'm pissed!

Anyone know any better deals than the $300 for 2yr contract renewal customers? (not new to verizon customers)
also, anyone have theirs rooted? can you tether by wire/wireless without a tethering contract from vzw? i tether my rooted droid loaded with buglessbeast with wire and wireless a lot without contract as it is and don't want to lose that feature

I have the unlocked Galaxy Nexus GSM version with stock 4.0.2 and I cannot connect to my car at all. I have a 2011 iDrive, I have updated the car's bluetooth with the latest from BMW's site and neither can see the other.
Any ideas?

To work around this, I un-paired the phone from the car, re-paired the two and made sure that I pressed "Cancel" and checked "do not ask again" when prompted on the phone, for access permissions to my address book and call history. Of course, this means that it's harder to call someone while driving, but my main use case is answering incoming calls, not making outgoing calls. It's a shame that this workaround is needed and I'll try to follow up with my CA to see if the problem can be raised with BMW. |
