MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!

Either that or it's some young kid who wants to make his cheap old bimmer look more exciting.

But on a late-model car, it's someone who is mentally unstable.

Well there is a guy in my building with "V10" badges on his R8 Spyder 4.2. Meanwhile, there are 3 other real V10 R8's - including a rare R8 GT - in my building as well. It would be interesting to hear their comments on the V10 badged 4.2

So folks I guess what I am saying is " badge perpetrators" span across all makes and levels.....

At the end of the day, we know who they are "let em play".

4 R8's in none building? In Louisiana? Ok, I am clearly living in the wrong type of places. What type of building is this? Do you live in an Audi dealership? Maybe the World Headquarters of the Audi R8 Owners' Club? Seriously, 4? In one building?

Ok. I am over it. That is all.

the uninitiated wouldn't know it isn't a V10 because he has the V10 rims as well. The give away? OEM R8 4.2 exhausts..

My contribution to the thread is kinda two parts...sorry in advance. This isn't exclusive to M cars. You'll have this with any special production car that shares a chassis with a standard production car. I've experienced this with 98% of the cars I've owned. People (including everyone of us) just want to feel good/special in general. There is nothing wrong with that. I say if it makes them feel good to put an M badge on a standard model; great. I only wish I could be so easily pleased when it comes to my cars. It would save me a lot of money.

People doing this used to irritate me to no end when I owned my Camaro SS and 04 Cobra. Well, I still own the Cobra for the time being. Anyway, I think driving the M3 has changed me somewhat. Although, I didn't feel snobbish with the Ford or Chevy in looking down on them for trying to be something they aren't. Now with an M3 I do feel like a snob when I do that. I can't explain why it is different now; but it is for me. Having said all that, I do still smile when I see a car someone has put a badge on to make people think it is something else whether it is a mustang, Camaro, bmw, etc.

Ah yes. Makes way more sense. I, too, am in Southern Florida. I agree about he automotive nirvana comment. Saw an SLS the other day. Those are still fairly rare anywhere!

Saw a black 135i the other day. (Didn't get a pic). He took off the "135i" badge and put a "M" badge in its place. Really angered me. I just don't like posers. I think they are seeking attention and have other issues in life.
