The hardest part to predict is the supply chain aspects being affected by the war. The Chinese are going to figure out how to provide product. They need the money in their economy. Just my opinion, anyway.

Unfortunately the Chinese will likely fall behind the US in chip manufacturing very soon. My relatives who are reasonable high up in AMD and Intel and both have said they are focusing on ramping up US production so as not to rely on the Chinese. So much high tech coming back to the US, it is putting huge pressure on salaries (demand far greater than supply) but it is still worth it because of lower risk and better control over the supply chain in a critical component. |

This is not the most hilarious things I've heard on this forum but it's up there... if you like a consistently outdated design, lack of live info such as traffic, road obstacles, lack of police warnings such as in waze, then yes please continue to use the bmw systems... but be careful because soon you will need to figure out that wonderful ID8... i'll stick to carplay which is simple, fast, seamless and always understands what I want to do thru Siri.

On certain general motor vehicles there are no heated seats, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, and lumbar. They are adding a small credit from $50-$100 on the MSRP and stating it will retrofitted at a later date at the service center. |

No doubt. Right now only those customers with buying power and standing orders are getting product reliably. This includes the fabs and packaging houses that manufacture semiconductors. Seems the whole landscape of semi manufacturing is being rewritten and we're living through it. We'll be better for it by 2024 but no doubt the cost of goods will go up.

Other issues affecting semi production are backlogs at packaging houses (many in Malaysia). And, equipment shortages from ASML are another problem and there's no competitor to ASML for many of their narrow pitch solutions. This and the neon gas shortage (thanks to the Russian conflict). It's a mess that is getting better slowly but won't be resolved for at least 2 more years.

Also, on the last Spotify app update they either killed or removed iDrive native app support all together (A truly shite move). The app no longer loads native to my iDrive 6 as of last Friday. This event prompted me to take the plunge and finally enable Carplay in my car. Happy thus far.

The Pandora implementation was garbage. An utter joke. Sound quality was muffled like coming from the bottom of a metal can. Spotify iDrive Ui was decent for the most part, with decent sound quality over BT. Some sporadic issues here and there that never got resolved in ID6. I feel that since ID6 is ancient history and now 5 years old, BMW no longer has any incentive whatsoever to update/fix some old time lingering issues. As of last week's Spotify app update, it no longer loads natively in ID6 as part of BMW connected apps🤦🏻. Only Pandora loads natively which I don't really care for. Pretty shite move in part of Spotify to disable ID6 support from one day to the next. In light of this event, took the plunge and paid BMW the $300 fee to enable Apple Carplay in my car. I truly avoided in the 4-5 years since I bought the car but losing native ID6 support for Spotify broke the camel's neck. Why didn't I do this years ago? Carplay sound quality is worlds better (Wifi vs BT native) and the UI and user experience is much better. Still resent BMW for penalizing 2017-2018 ID6 owners with a robbery $300 fee for something that should have been part of the car since the get go. Anyway, I am enjoying unlocking this feature in the car and vastly bettee sound quality.

However, this might not matter in iDrive 8 and beyond because that uses the Bluetooth 5.2 version, who's transfer rate is equivalent to Wi-Fi. I believe iDrive 7 still uses the older 4.2 version. |
