This is a good thread.

Honestly, not being enough - not a good enough partner, not being good enough at my job, not making enough money, not being able to support a SO well enough. That anxiety powers a lot of my internal drive for more, do better and be better, but I also worry that i'll never stop.

That i'll never reach or understand that concept of 'good enough' and know when to slow my pursuits. Given this is a car forum, it's like stair stepping your way up through cars as you gain/earn access to nicer, faster, better things. When is enough enough?

Outside my existential fears? More normal stuff like being saddled with an incurable illness or problem that sidelines my life like severe kidney disease (dialysis), lupus or something.

I lived in a city in Tasmania, but Tasmanian "cities" are more like small regional towns surrounded by forests and farmland. So you really learn to coexist with wildlife. There are actually signs on many roads in Tasmania telling people to drive slowly between dusk and dawn due to wildlife activity.

I remember being scared by the glowing eyes of possums which were hanging out in the backyard at night. I spotted a giant lizard in my yard once. A wallaby frequented my yard for a few months. Some kids found a big huntsman spider in the dress-up box at school one day. Spiders were just everywhere in general. And I heard all kinds of stories about people finding venomous snakes in their homes!

I moved to Melbourne as a teenager. I also have a large yard here, but Melbourne is a real city and I definitely haven't had as many close encounters with wildlife as during my years in Tasmania.
The issue with back home is the SUPRIS EMOTHER FUCKER when you are in tight quarters. Say repairing a deck, you do your check before getting under there but you work away then you just.... you feel eyes on you, you look in a nook and a big fuck off spider or hornet's nest or worse case a fucking snake. FUCK, like jesus how do i get outta here.

The hornet's i can't stand, they are ill tempered and the size of a CRJ jet. Fuck off already you freak.

I know this should be the dream thread but I had a dream last night about a snake coming out of my dash A/C vent as I was going 60mph. No plan on how to escape so I opened the door and stop.drop.roll.....goodbye Mr snake while watching my car go off and crash into a ditch

Living here in California there's always a concern about "the big one" coming.

Seismologists say it's not a matter of IF but WHEN that will happen.

TBH, I've lived here all my life and been through some hefty ones and I don't lose any sleep over it.

Every time I go into surgery I fear my patient is going to wake up in the middle of the operation screaming, flailing about, bleeding everywhere, pulling out instruments and indicators while we frantically try to get them sedated.

That's why I never became a doctor.

Curious, what is your occupation? Anesthesiologist?

Another thing that I fear when driving which must occur to others sometimes is not to have a suicide merchant going the other way deciding they want to end it going into you.

Sometimes it feels that painful, but alas - no. Not yet anyway.

After serving 12 months with the 25th Infantry Division (Army) in Vietnam, I don't often get wrapped around the axle about scary things, but something happened in our yard a couple of years ago that was a bit unnerving.

My wife spotted several buzzards descending into our upper side yard, so sent me to investigate. I soon located a small deer near our bird bath. All that was left was the rib cage, head and legs plus the untouched digestive system. The bones were clean as a whistle and there was no dismemberment.

At first I thought coyotes. Curiosity got the best of me and I looked it up. The carcass was a perfect example of a mountain lion kill.

I spend almost every afternoon sitting on my upper patio, not far from where I found the deer remains. You can bet I frequently looked over my shoulder for many months to come, despite the fact we live in a residential neighborhood and about 2 blocks from open space, hills and fields.

To live in fear is to not live at all.

Me recently: I'm scared.
My enemy: Bullshit. You ain't afraid of no man.
Me: There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die.
