PS - will still hit up In-N-Out every once in a while, though. That’s always good. 👍 |

Y'all going to Wendy's need to be looking at the Biggie Bag deals. I get a JR bacon slider, 4 spicy nuggets, mini box of fries and a cup to serve myself at the soda machine for $6.

The entire concept of tipping is asinine. I do it because I have to but it's a monumentally stupid system.

Self-Serv Brewery
Where I live there is a self-serve brewery. You go to a counter, show ID and credit card, and they issue you a "tab" card. You pick up a glass at the clean glass station, go to the giant wall of taps for the different types of beer and cider, tap your tab card and pour. It keeps track of the ounces you purchase. At the end of your stay you take the dirty glass to the dirty glass station, go to the pay counter and pay on an iPad. A 20% tip automatically pops up on the bill but you can delete it for custom/no tip. I asked the young man giving out the "tab" cards who gets the tip if no one actually served me.....he was speechless without an answer. It was definitely a no tip night for me. We only went because a friend of ours was guest appearing with the band.

I try to avoid taking a nice car if valet is required. However, I had to valet when with my 911 and said, no you’re not insured to drive my car. Tell me where to park it and I’ll put it there. I gave them money just like I would the Gypsies in Spain to make sure they didn’t mess with the car. It’s basically extortion but my car did not appear to be molested.

Believe me they want to drive your car. There was some back and forth, as pleasant as I could be since I didn’t want to have someone key my car or something. The valet manager came out and we worked it out.

I tip at sit down restaurants typically 18-20%. Some places like the local mom and pop places I go to every week I will usually tip more. If they automatically add fees then I deduct those. I only get coffee from a local place and I will tip them $1/drink. I also get Dunkin sometimes and luckily they don't ask for a tip.... yet. Food delivery $5 flat unless it's really nasty out or something I might do more, but I rarely get delivery. I think that's about all I tip for which is what would have been considered normal a few years ago. They should do away with the whole thing, although I will add when we went to Spain where tipping is not a thing, I did notice service in general was worse. However I'm not sure if it was bad enough to deal with all the tipping nonsense. I think I would lean towards no tips and slightly worse service. |

i think it's sad that when a person does their job (meets all normal expectations) and i feel like i WANT to tip because everyone else CANT seem to do their job!
or really it's my vent that no one seems to do their job above 70%. everyone seems lazy or like they just don't care. my best, most recent experience was at a walmart not long ago. i waited at the fishing/hunting counter to buy my fishing license. no one stopped by to help me. i even asked someone walking by for help "not my dept" nothing. eventually a young lady walks by and says "hi, can i help you?" i told her what i wanted to buy. she replied "i'm sorry, i don't know how to do that but i will find someone." she then puts puts a little jar of powerbait on the shelf and walks off. a few minutes later she comes back and says "i just wanted to see if anyone came by to help you yet. i see no one's here." she then leaves and next thing i know the store manager is helping me. while the manager is helping me, she comes by again and says "oh good, i'm so sorry i couldn't help you" i told her "you did! you found someone and you followed up!" i turned to the manager and said "she's your best customer service employee!" wait we were talking about tipping... yes i still do.

WOW, I get what most of you are saying but I grew up having very little luxuries. My dad topped out at $55k and my mother didn’t work.
I consider myself very lucky for working hard in my industry and have been able to afford many luxuries. With no kids to leave anything to I’m enjoying the money I make and tip almost everyone (within reason) |
