C’mon guys can’t we all just get along??? Lol.

Let’s help out the original poster. This CF dispute could go on and on and.....

Some ppl just don’t like it for whatever reason. Like I said early CF is not for everyone. But you won’t know if you don’t try.

I did 3 WODs as a what's the hype all about platform, and personally was incredibly bored. Then again I'm too analytical and "flow" of a workout is important to me, plus me being school on old school principles of heart rate control, unilateral engagement and isolation, and neutralizing imbalances in physique just run through my blood too much I suppose lol! The CF "coach" that instructed that I knew personally still to this day hates the fact I could out lift him on wide grip pull ups while he looked like a flopping fish on a bar!

FLAPATSFAN, I think we'd definitely have a good lift!

I will say, one of my new favorite heart rate spike lifts for cardio is resistance banded 75lb kettlebell swings for 5 sets of 40..... not off the hips, but full squat to front raise. I don't like to chance crushing my nuts by doing cheater KB swings.

No, it's an opinion that's not even based on actual data.

If CrossFit is too dangerous, so is running. You said it yourself.

Back on topic - OP, start asking around and find a CrossFit gym with a good reputation and give it a try. Most gyms offer the first class for free, or at least used to. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't.

Cheater KB swings? TF are you talking about. Russian KB swings and American KB swings are standard movements in no matter what type of training you do. Are you a westside guy that does banded everything?

Guys,

Thanks for all your help. I will go and check out one of the CF gyms in the area.

I went to the website and they have like 20 coaches listed. Most of them have CrossFit level 2 certification (a few have 1 or 3).

Right? KB swings are a hip hinge movement. Not a squat.

I don't know what he's doing, but whatever squat-to-front-raise movement he's doing might be super effective - what it's not is a kettlebell swing.

It almost sounded like a SDHP? Maybe he’s confusing a deadlift and a squat

Lol, I'm talking controlled full ROM vs. explosion off the hips. Let deadlifts do that work!

I honestly hate resistance band work, it was just a fast way to add "weight" to the heaviest KB on hand. I'm a dynamic type lifter rather than static. Less chance of injury!

Today's lift for example was:

275# incline press 5x5
120lb(each hand) DB Swiss stability ball flat chest press, yes it's a game of trust with the ball
4x8 heavy free weight dip machine
pronated standing chest cable flyes super with rope pull overs to failure.

That YouTube video is hilarious! Can't tell though if that guy was legit like that personality wise, or just "bro'ing " it.....

Yep yep!

KB / for kettlebell swings

DB / for 120lb unilateral Dumbbell Swiss stability ball flat presses.

I'll be the first to say the fitness industry is perverted with excessive names of exercises!

Instagram and social media is largely to blame!

Uh, what? "I've forgotten the damn weight is called a kettlebell"? You mean the weight that I called a kettlebell in my post that you quoted?

Also, "you're".

Whatever that exercise is, it's not a kettlebell swing. Your words, own 'em. If you're doing "full squat"s during your "kettlebell swings", you're doing it wrong.

What's wrong with abbreviated movement names?

DU - double under
KB - kettlebell
DL - deadlift
SDLHP - sumo deadlift high pull

Also there's zero chance of you hitting your bits doing an actual kettlebell swing...

Kettlebell starts at point A, and carries momentum SWINGING UP to point B! It's called proper form as seen below!

"Hip hinging" and hyperflexion through L1-L5 into the hip girdle creates more problems than solutions! This is the reason deadlifting is taught chin up, eyes high, shoulders back, chest up, explodes through the floor finishing at a NEUTRAL SPINE!

Sorry I left my Crayons at home today for you to understand that, but I'm sure you can imagine the stick figure in your mind lol!

Did you also take the tool known as a "thigh master" so literally? Wow!

I wish that was the case! I'm 6'5" with a very long torso lol. With an overall wingspan is 7' 4" I would think the exact same thing, but my wrist just so happen to fall along the old school wrestling "suck it" gesture position area lol.

Something along the lines of this, not happening lol!

This is showing a correct KB swing, in other words - a hip hinge, not a squat.

You don't understand body mechanics bro!

Don't be all butt hurt simply because the C.F. cock that's been shoved down your throat so deep your brain lacks enough fresh oxygen in the blood to make sense of what is what.

Carry on, you keep making me giggle!

The funniest part is your exactly a perfect mold stereotype of why Cross fit has failed and is loosing followers.....

While REAL HEALTH AND FITNESS PROFESSIONALS are busier than ever!

You know the funny thing is one of the box common injuries in Crossfit is missing the jump on a damn plyobox!

And yall idiots wear it as a badge of honor.... how's "uncle Rhabdo" been by the way?
