Second, I agree with the statement above: I see what's happening right now *significantly* strengthening the hand of large corporations who have access to big capital. Small businesses are going to take it in the shorts and we're going to see a further consolidation into the hands of fewer as a result, ironically enough. |

That being said, I've been trying to hire more trackside support and applications engineers for the past 18 months and I can't find anyone worth a damn and those who are interested don't even know how a basic 12vdc system works in a car...

Why do these postings come up AFTER my doctors refused to sign off on my competition license renewal and forbade me from ever driving or even attending motorsports events?!?!?

If labor (labour) isn't plentiful for whatever reason, either pay up or reinvent the business to use less labor (labour). It's not optional.
Automate, become more efficient, eliminate labor intense products or services, go offshore, the list goes on. Or just sit there and take it in the shorts and watch the competition eat your lunch. |

The saying by the corpos was always... if you don't like your job, you can always find a new one...
...well they did, everyone did lol... Everyone loves free markets until they don't work for them... A regulated capitalist market is the best market... we have full deregulation that favors only the capital... and well here we are.

Thanks, that's an interesting point. Have there been examples of this transition?

What wonder what the future awaits
My company is making money hand over fist... My role alone in the company nets 16 Million a year. As a commercial driver with a Class B CDL in the hazardous waste industry with 5 years and 300,000 miles experience driving in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia… I mean driving a truck in that area is the equivalent of walking through a minefield yet I have no accidents and no violations I spoke up and professionally stated that I’m not accepting the usual baby boomer bs “good job” 3% raise and asked for $5.72 or 26% from the $22.28/hr I’m making now There’s 4 jobs I highly qualify that’s paying $30.xx-$36.88 Tell me why I get back to the office…. There’s evidence the company is actively looking for my replacement along with evidence to support denying me the raise I asked for F$&! Them I’m out!…. Every late model Range Rover, Gwagons and bimmers in the reserve parking lot and I can’t get shy a $6 raise Last edited by BigNorm4Life; 10-31-2021 at 11:42 AM.. |

Anyone feeling it even more now?
We have people quitting left and right but all that aside it seems my company doesn't remotely give a F about the people left over. In fact, just consistent bitching about under performance even tho the financials are record level. I legitimately think these corpos have lost it... prepare for something big on the labor side... because we are headed into a different future.

I had to take my work car to Ford service yesterday and they are definitely having problems. They hire someone and they don't show up or they come to work for a day or two leave for lunch and never come back.
I still see for hire signs everywhere. This is whole labor shortage is baffling to me. We're definitely living in strange times. |

Question is... will your customers care if the product or service is subpar? Will it reflect poorly on your company? Would you lose tax breaks for not hiring in your country?

I personally think we need laws that favor the employee much more than before. We no longer have companies that take care of their employees.
Currently in the Us it is entirely the corporation that has the upper hand effectively creating a corporate dictatorship in a way. There is no enticement for company loyalty, right to work is a joke and there 0 laws with regards to healthcare coverage if you are let go etc. It's honestly a system that relies on entrapment of the employee. In France it is very hard to fire or hire anybody and it really works in favor of the company to be good towards the employee and vice versa.

Most plow drivers doing private driveways and parking lots are private contractors, who hire lawn service workers to run the plows in the off-season. Granted that some lawn service folks go south for the winter, but I have not seen a huge labor problem with the local lawn services around here that would hint at any changes this coming winter.....

We plan to offer two services, one at one price, the other at another, you choose your preference. We do not get tax breaks.
