My diaper bag would take up.half of the space left in that M550i trunk. I also keep a side by side umbrella stroller in my X5, its probably 30% wider than our Vista, which would be about the same width as his Chico stroller.

The entire floor space of my X5 is taken up when I put my briefcase and lunch box inthe back when I have my stroller and diaper backpack back there already. Obviously I can throw the diaper bag on top of the stroller if need be, but daily life just takes up room. I don't even have like, sports equipment in the back. A single mom friend of mine from a prior life literally left a pair of pop up chairs and a small cooler in the back of her car. She always talked about her dream to have a larger SUV so she could fit a pop up canopy tent too, because she was always going to sports stuff and the canopy would have been nice for some shade.

+1

How do you fit a week's worth of grocery and a Costco run in that SUV when the stroller is taking 90% of the space?

You put the groceries on top, easy. I dunno guys, I live in a large house with a yard etc, 2 kids, I am not a "small space" person, we do weekly grocery runs, we bought MASSIVE child safety seats and the X3 was fine, we never felt restricted. Each to his own I guess but interestingly the CEO of Ford just came out yesterday saying America is obsessed with over-sized vehicles and that is going to have to change.

Funny because that very company only sells one passenger car now and that's the over weight and overly large Mustang. Ford, just like most any automaker, will make what people want.

I totally agree that people in the US do need to embrace smaller vehicles. However, Ford is only saying this because their EV division is in freefall and since people keeping buying trucks, they are in jeopardy of CAFE, internal goals, etc. Ford is limiting 5.0 production for the trucks in an aim to increase CAFE which is ironic because on the road, the 5.0 tends to get better MPGs than the Ecoboosts.

The CEO of Ford just says everything he thinks people want to hear. He went on a multi year campaign telling us "buy our EVs or else", now he's talking about offering V8s for forever, and how they're gonna offer all the choices and blah blah blah.

He's a talking head shmuck. He literally just tells everyone what they want to hear even if it contradicts.the last thing he said.

Acura has no idea what they're doing with RDX. It started off as a tiny car with a turbo 4, then got bigger with a V6, now it's s turbo 4 again and kinda big. It's nice looking but there's no consistency lol. They do look nice, so does MDX. Just underpowered.

Looked at the MDX a-spec today. Msrp was shy of 64k. Wanted a left over 2024 but they only had a 2025, base price is $2k more than the 2024. Transmission was smooth, seats comfortable, 2nd row had sufficient space for car seat, trunk has sufficient space. Only complaints were the steering was loose in all modes and interior felt a little cheap. Build quality does not compare to an X5 IMO- no surprise I guess. Wife liked it a lot though so now going to start looking for best deal unless a similarly priced x5 pops up.

Any brokers folks like to use on here? Don't feel like haggling or calling around...

We haven't but could give it a look.

I just looked at one for a friend, seemed nice enough at the mid trim level and was $38K out the door with 10K KM on it. 2 yrs old. SO new under $45K USD?

I believe the only MDX that can compete with the acceleration of the X5 is the MDX Type S and the base price is actually higher than the X5. Given that choice, go X5, much better handling, tech and luixury.

The Tiguan is terribly underpowered. Nice enough grocery getter, but it's underpowered even with one person in it (I'm not talking about racing it either...merging on the highway is a chore). I had one for 6 months while waiting for one of my cars to be built and hated every moment.

Underpowered? It makes 184HP, I know modern cars are heavy but that is plenty of grunt.

It's turbo charged too so plenty of torque. What on earth do you need more HP for in a grocery getter? My DD is a 2T with 210 HP, way more than needed to haul kids sports gear and groceries and hauls itself up to freeway speeds no problem. It's not an F150.

2022 VW Tiguan 4 cyl Turbo AWD is 0-60 in a "neck snapping" 9.1 seconds.
Now no offence, but that is real slooooooooow.
