[QUOTE=
And this generation will NOT know how to drive a stick. Why bring more people in the world that can't drive a stick [/QUOTE] There is a current contingent of hardcore young guys that will only drive sticks, and just enough older used cars to satisfy that small niche. Problem is you have a kid now, and what used/affordable sticks will exist in 15-17 years? The last vestiges of American Muscle and BMWs. It will be slim. My kid will be fine, he’ll get my G82 in 20 years. You young guys' kids might be screwed.

Have the 3rd kid.
Then you can decide which 2 you like best and donate the 3rd to charity. Kidding, kidding. We stopped at 1 and it is sad we didn’t give our daughter a brother/sister. |

You can't reason with a child. I tried that with our son, who is our 1st. Growing up I knew my parents knew why I couldn't have ice cream for breakfast, they just didn't want to tell me. I was wrong. I really didn't have the reasoning ability to understand. Sometimes (most times?) "because I'm the dad/mom" is the answer. Don't confuse parenting with friendship. Your first jobs are mom/dad and hopefully you'll be friends at the appropriate time; which depends on their maturity. Even though they don't like it, kids need, and subconsciously want, boundaries. I always told my kids to pick their friends wisely and nothing good happens after midnight. I didn't pick my kids' friends, but I did advise them when I saw a bad trend. I warned my son about a kid he was hanging out with. He actually listened and the friendship fizzled shortly thereafter. Wasn't long after that, that the kid was arrested for breaking into cars. He went off to college and got indoctrinated and totally abandoned just about everything we taught him. Have a daughter? "Date" her. I would take her to her favorite fast food joint and then a movie. There were better kid movies 20 years ago. Mom might feel a little left out and jealous, but she should understand it's in your daughter's best interest. I found that it kept my daughter from, to quote a song, "looking for love in all the wrong places." She needs that affirmation from her dad. She ended up marrying the only guy she dated, and he's a wonderful man. Conversely, a son needs confirmation from mom. They will rise to the levels you set for them. Challenge them and they very well my surprise you. Don't let them quit something after a short time. Both my kids tried my old clarinet in high school. I told them both they couldn't quit until they gave it at least a year. My son kept playing, my daughter didn't. That's off the top of my head... |

Agree wholeheartedly! You're going to want to yell back, don't. Don't take it personally when they say they hate you. That just means you're doing something right. Also, the punishment needs to fit the crime; and it's different for every kid. Sometimes it's the paddle and sometimes it's time in the corner. "Washing" a mouth with soap won't hurt them, but it is quite unpleasant.

We do not have kids, nor will we ever.
However, just from a logical argument standpoint, that is a self-perpetuating problem. If you do indeed have another son, you will also once again have a youngest son that does not have a younger brother. |
