Who said this was comparing a 335 to a prius. I merely stated at the end that although many of us will laugh at these guys we need to also look at ourselves and/or other members on this forum who act the same way.

Doubt it. Even if I have to stop for gas 150 > 107.

That said, I think that hybrids are a good stop gap for full electrics until battery technology improves. I hope my next car is a tesla with more headroom and lower price. In the mean time, I give kudos to anyone driving fuel efficient vehicles -- independent of which technology they've chosen. |

how do you propose to put regen braking on a diesel powered car? even if you do store electricity somewhere that's not what the car runs off BMW's concept brake regen stores electricity so you can freewheel the alternator as much as possible, maybe that's what you mean. |

yes, reduce power to alternator. I didn't realize the word order mattered, "brake regen" vs. "regen braking". |

word order doesn't matter
it's just a weird concept to me that BMW came up with to allow the alternator to spin freely and using saved energy from braking to power the car, to me it sounds like more trouble that it's worth, seems like alot of parts that may break, and although freeing up the HP that the alternator eats sounds good, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle/complication involved |

Fair point. An ICE is not really designed to exploit the advantage like a hybrid.
This article claims 4%, which is not much, but every little bit helps, and the "etc." is turning off the engine, better Cd, little tricks that hybrids typically employ. Again not much, but it helps. http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006...troduces_.html |

why do they even have a forum for prius?
do they really need suggestions or information about their car? or do they need a place to discuss about their BAD BEATS in the road? |
