I use a ~$50 HDMI cable on mine and it works perfectly fine. I've never used a $5 or $10 dollar monoprice.com HDMI cable, so I can't comment on its quality. But I can tell you that you certainly don't need an overpriced Monster HDMI cable to get a good HD picture.

got my cable for $2 from amazon. compared it to my buddy's $129 monster cable and he was pretty pissed off for spending $130 for something that performs JUST AS WELL as something that costs $2. i still laugh at him every time i see him.
in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if both the $2 cable and the $200 cable were getting their parts from the same manufacturer. HDMI is all digital signal. whenever best buy or circuit city monkeys tell you that monster cables are offer better quality, they're full of shit. just ask them how 1s and 0s in cable A can be of better quality than 1s and 0s in cable B. they have no clue what the fuck they're talking about.

Component cables, composite cables, audio (rca connections) all benefit from higher quality cables! DVI,HDMI,Toslink, digital audio cables...buy the cheapest ones you can buy!! As long as they click into place, picture looks exactly the same as 150 dollar cables!! 1's and 0's don't care about gold connectors, or kryptonite plated bullshit! |

Cable was $18.
I read those Monster cables on the various speeds at which they transfer signals. I have no idea how fast the component ports on my equipment can run, so don't know that I need 10.2GHz for $200 vs. 2.3GHz for $20. I tend to error on the cheap side (slaps elbow) |

If it's true HD, i.e. digital signal, the cables don't matter even the tiniest bit. You're sadly mistaken if you think otherwise.

I agree with all but the computer part. Just because you can install Linux on it doesn't make it usable as a proper computer. It's more just because you can and for very processing intensive things. i.e. Folding@Home or any type of sim/hashing you want to do. The PS3 can crank out rainbow tables like on other or so I've heard.

Oye that's a shame. For $400 you could have a 360 with everything you need and a game.

Ok so my $700 was a bit high .. it was more like $660
PS3 - $400 Second controller - $55 Game - $60 HDMI - $40 ( yes I know a $10 cable would've been fine ) Blueray remote - $25 Total = $580. Not having to buy a separate Blueray player for $300 = Priceless + 13% tax = $660 Keep in mind, things cost a little more up here. After seeing some of the deals of Craigslist, I should have bought it there. Last edited by BMdblU; 12-05-2008 at 10:40 PM.. |

If you're worrying about $60 a year then let me suggest that you sell the 328i and go buy a Civic, if you are indeed that strapped for cash.
