All the tourist spots in Vegas is a dump. Go to the Northwest side... Summerlin area, its not a dump at all. Most people don't know about the local scene because everyone stays on the Strip or Freemont. |

Mandalay Bay isn't the same anymore. The pool is nice and they have cool shows, but the actual hotel is sinking. They built it over an ancient river so the foundation is crap. You can google this info. I actually stayed there 2 weeks ago, just to access the pool; the room was literally tilted.

Nothing off the strip is walking distance. Technically, yes they are, but you won't want to walk in the summer or in the winter.

(Keep in mind this is based on trips a few years back)
I have stayed at: The Venettian-best overall MGM-great for shows and "clubs" also pretty hot scene at the pool Mandalay-good overall hotel, met my wife at the now gone Rum Jungle club Paris-love it for the location, pool is relaxing and not too wild Stratosphere-went with a group of cheapos. Roof top pool was fun, but its a dump NYNY-again, great for the location. Did well playing here Really just depends what you're interested in. We always like to be between MGM and Wynn b/c outside of summer, its actually "walkable" |
