Like the Japanese M3
Great fuel economy .A very subtle rear spoiler just in case downforce was an issueThat might be a long lost M1

It doesn't qualify
It does not have an m badge on the trunk lid .Some people like the clean look of a debadged car.Especially if it has a long word on the trunk.Like Xdrive for Bmw or 4matic on the Benz. That is in addition to the model on the other side of the trunk .

It does have a M badge on the trunk, there is one on the license plate holder.

It's not followed by a number indicating an M model. The cars with the m sport packages do have m on the sills, steering wheel, and the rims.I guess they figured some wanted the appearance without the engine.

I know it's a free world but I really don't get the point of posts like this, especially when the topic has been done to death in many other posts.
Just another excuse for someone who drives an M car, big deal, to show how "big" their dick is? |

No badging is going to make a car a real M. You know what you have. You get to experience how special it is every day. I don't think M-sport packages with m badge dilute the importance of your fine automobile at all. Your car is still better, looks better, sounds better, and preforms better. I've got a 328 with factory M-sport package. Not once did I think, now I have a M car. I liked the look, it was factory stock, I liked the steering wheel, and I bought it. With absolute certainty I can tell you that true M cars did not become less important or less rare because BMW has chosen, brilliantly I think, to leverage the M brand. They are a car company and their job is to sell cars. As for the aftermarket M badge crowd, I would never do it myself but to each their own. They are not impressing anyone who knows and and those in the know are probably laughing and rolling their eyes. Enjoy your great ride. |

BTW, BMW's been doing this for many years. I had a 2003 540i with M-Tech package. Looked very much like an M5 without the trunk spoiler and exhaust. It had a few m badges, but correctly no M5 badge anywhere. All volume production manufacturers do this. If you want something truly rare, you are going to have to spend several times more than an M4 to get it. |

You've missed the entire point of this thread, we're not talking about M-sport badging lol, that's both factory and inconspicuous.
This thread is about GERMAN RICE. |

Usually people don't make quotes and attribute them to me, or put words in my mouth because I can be counted on to share how I feel without prompting.
You are sort of right, but you would have to change the word jealous to respect. I respect true M cars as the best BMW has to offer. As much as I respect them, in no way am I jealous of those that own one. If I wanted a true M I would simply go buy one. I have no use for that much power, plain and simple. That is why the the M-sport package was a great choice for me. For those that want/need/have to have the power that a true M provides, good for them if they can afford to live their dream. I can be happy for them and respect their ride without being jealous. Thanks for helping out. |

BTW, I like the car in the photo you posted. Usually I don't care for two-tone unless it something tasteful like a black roof, but I really think this looks good. The wing is a bit high but it is probably more functional that way. The side exhaust looks great and was really a good idea so he could have a clean line on the back. The color-matching wheels are a nice touch. The m badge is like frosting on the cake. The only thing I would do is get it washed. Otherwise, perfection. |

Anyway, its confusing that you tell me I'm off topic since I was responding to the actual OP when he wrote: "Originally Posted by 1M4 View Post It's not followed by a number indicating an M model. The cars with the m sport packages do have m on the sills, steering wheel, and the rims.I guess they figured some wanted the appearance without the engine." |
