I downed it. Not something you want to drink when you're thirsty, though. The IPAs I had before that went down much easier.

Went to another Macallan tasting. Always a great experience. They had a 1929 bottle worth $75K.

Got another six pack of Franconia Oktoberfest tonight. Next time I go I'm gonna pick up a couple six packs, because I don't know when they're gonna pull them off the shelves. Hard to go back to any other beer after drinking this

That's what it is. There are so many micro-breweries now local that it is hard to find out of state stuff. My brother owns a micro-brewery and tells me how hard it is to even get his stuff in the local markets.

Just picked up a bottle of Tullimore D.E.W. Phoenix Limited Reserve at Sydney airport. Was allowed to get a taste befre buying. Remarkable taste and little burn. I love whiskys finished in Sherry casks.
Also, picked up a bottle of 15yr Highland Park. Have not had that in many years, and am looking for the occasion to sample that one. With that, my aged whisky collection is now just shy of 20 different bottles. Do people have whisky tasting parties? |

Lately I've been sipping on Straight Edge which is from the Orin Swift owners (I think, might just be the winemaker). Its bourbon that's been aged in Napa Cabernet barrels. http://splintergroupspirits.com/straightedge/ Super smooth and tastes great.

Out of curiosity - about how many drinks per week would you say you have on average? And do you find you drink every night, or just a few particular days during the week - say weekends?
I only really have a few on weekends normally...but I wonder if I might be overdoing it at 3-4 per night Friday to Sunday. Hmmmm. Don't want to get cirrhosis. |

Hard to count "drinks" as I just pour in a couple fingers worth into an Old Fashion glass. That may count as a double. But I have one or maybe two such drinks most nights. Sometimes I go a night or two without a drink and sometimes I have a couple beers instead. This past weekend it was wine. 3 nights to drink a bottle, so hardly overdoing it.

So, yeah, typically I only have a drink on days ending in 'y'. A heart-healthy book I was recently reading had a top-50 foods to have. #1 (I see now it's in alphabetical order) was alcohol. 3-14 per week. I don't like apples THAT much, so a drink a day keeps the heart surgeon away! |

Been a minute since I posted. BUT... Do I have a tasty treat for you guys!
I was at Total Wine Friday to stock up for my Halloween Party and I was looking for my favorite vodka: XO. They didn't have it so I asked for their absolute "smoothest and best tasting vodka". This is what they recommended. And I can confirm... It is absolutely AMAZING!!! You don't think of vodka as a 'sipper' but this my friends is just that. Although I cut mine with Cranberry & Pineapple. |
