Vegas has negative puck luck. This is getting ugly.
How many posts can you hit in a series before you finally start putting some goals in the net? OK real question. Ovi already looks like he's going to have a heart attack on the ice so it's probably him. If the Caps close it out in Vegas, does he and the Cup actually make it back on the plane to head back to DC?

70,000+++ people tried to get tickets to the watch party in DC! Amazing! The WHOLE city is pulling for the Caps. As a long-time resident and fan, it's awesome. It's great to see the whole city pulling for the same thing, the whole city happy. It's been a long time since DC has had this kind of unity.
I'm excited for the game tonight. A close friend actually got two tickets to the watch party, so I'll be in the stadium in DC watching the jumbotron. Hopefully the Caps can pull off a win. Vegas, while down 3-1, is still a good team - and it's not unlikely for them to win tonight.

Hoping the Capitals continue with their tradition of being the biggest Choke Artists in the league.

I've been following the caps since I was 6, I'm now 38 and reside near Fresno CA. Die hard hockey fan, specifically for the Caps. I've played youth through college and continue to play in beer league. I coach my sons squirt team. I remember going to Mothers Day Brunch as a kid and listening on my Walkman as they began to crumble against the Penguins.
Countless years of heartbreak have followed. Ironically after last years loss to Pitt I tried to convince my then 8 year old to start following another team, especially since he moved from DC at age 1. Spare him from the torture I've endured. (I think there is a post in this thread I wrote after the game 7 loss last year lamenting this) Vegas seemed like the perfect choice and opportunity. Hell, he even has a Fleury jersey that he got this past Xmas. I would have never believed in a million years we would be playing them in the Finals. And now, after decades of disappointment to be so close. When the series started I bit the bullet and bought 3 tix to game 5. I'm excited (obviously) to just have an opportunity to see them win the cup tonight. I even curbed a wheel 2 days ago and while not happy about it, didn't really get too upset. If they pull this off tonight, it will probably be the second greatest day of my life, only behind the birth of my son. And to get to experience it with him, would make it just that much more awesome. Let's Go Caps! |

I get the sentiment lifelong Caps fans are going through. I felt that way in Feb when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. It's something indescribable watching your team finally break through and win the championship.
That said, I still hope Vegas extends this thing out. They are a better team than they've been the last few games, just need the bounces to go their way a little bit. It's been a fun series and I don't want to see it end tonight.

Each game Vegas has had a chance to win. Not just a chance but really good chances. A lot of posts and two missed essentially open nets.
I want to see the Caps win this thing!! |

Congratulations to Chihuahua and any other Caps fans--Your team finally went all the way and did good for DC. Got to hand it to Vegas for their first year.
Been another fun season and looking forward to October when we start up again. See you all in a few months for next season!!

First DC professional sports team championship since 1992.
First Stanley Cup, 14 years in the making for Ovie. We have been waiting for this for a long time. I'm really at a loss for words right now. Hard to describe the feeling after so many years, decades. |
