For the minimalist holsters, I’m impartial since the gun is usually touching my undershirt; there’s no guard between the gun and my skin. For something against my skin I prefer suede if possible, but broken in leather feels nice too.

Sent my Extar EP9 and Shield Plus PC 4" down the road. Replaced the Shield with a Shield Plus 3.7" threaded barrel version because shooting suppressed is the way to go.

Receiving funding from departments is like pulling teeth.

Sorry for not going through all 344 pages before posting here lol. I recently got a 2025 X5 so I have been posting a bit over in other forums, but just found this one.

I picked up a Ruger PC Carbine today, model 19140. I also grabbed a Sig Romeo 5 but no extra magazines as they didn't have any. It was an impulse purchase; I have a lot of 9mm around and I like to plink and also do a bit of critter control. I mounted the RDS and was going to go out after dark and annoy the neighbors, but it started raining.

FWIW I carry a SS 920 MR920 Elite normally, sometimes a Kimber Stainless II 45 when I'm just walking my dogs or in the woods, or sometimes a Walther PDP 5".

The most often grabbed gun in my house is either a Gamo .22 Magnum air rifle, or the Savage A17 17 hmr. I had a ground squirrel problem this summer, and I used both of those to fix the problem. The 17 out to about 100 yards, the Gamo out to about 35 yards, those things are skinny.

Anyway I can't wait to try the new Ruger tomorrow. I have a washing machine on the fritz and I might take my frustrations out on it since it flooded the basement a bit.

I have a few rifles I keep in California that I’ll leave the break-action requirements in place.

Nice. I've always wanted one, I just know it is expensive to shoot, and it would probably be a safe queen. I live in the country and have land, so I can go out after work frequently to blow off steam and just hit the steel targets whenever I want. Hence the appeal of .22 and 9mm because of cost. I put some through the Ruger last night, it is a fun little toy.

You’re lucky! I suppose I could do that here in NV on BLM land, but when I’m in CA I have to look harder for good places to shoot.

I think I'm in a late life crisis. In that I am thinking of disposing most of my firearms. Look, I'm too old and broken down to help fight off aliens or zombies. Can't run and a 5 mile walk would have me in agony. Sadly, I have NO relatives that will want my guns. I stacked ammo deep in the past for the full autos and that also is a hassle. If I pass first my wife will have no idea how to deal with all this stuff. No I'm not hinting I am ill or anything hitting 70 soon and expect to be here another 10 good years I hope. Just that I no longer have interest in shooting and maybe time to cash out.

Thoughts?

Cant run but you have a ton of ammo? Sounds like you would be very useful for suppressive fire while other members of your team can move/flank the enemy.

You are never too old for the need to be able to defend yourself against any enemy.

Agreed! He has value in a hypothetical zombie apocalypse or civil war.

I understand your concerns. Is it simply age and physical ability preempting these thoughts? Do you have any friends you could entrust with the care of those firearms should something dire occur? If you still enjoy shooting, I see no reason to unload everything.

I think it's just wanting to make it easier for my wife if she outlives me. She is totally ignorant about the guns and would be ripped off. Plus she would have to allow someone into the garage to take the ammo. Also thinking about my somewhat large guitar collection. I still play regularly but I don't need half of it. Years ago I had a classic Fender Amp collection and sold it. Don't miss it and bet if I did it with the guns same result.

As to suppressive fire my most valuable contribution to a zombie apocalypse is simple. I'm smart enough to tell people "don't go outside" when we can see the zombies and "I'm the slow guy you need to outrun instead of the zombies"

Haha! Well depending on what ammo you have, I would happily take it off of your hands.

Well the larger quantities are 9mm, 556/223 and 7.65/308. Mostly bought for the full autos which are hungry little beasts. Since most is military grade in cans I think I'll find takers here in Arizona.

Course I'd keep some for the semiauto FAL, AR15 and I'd need to find a 9mm host semi-auto to use with the can.
