I've had multiple debates as whether the shinny thing is the bullet. Idk what to think.

I don't think so - wrong trajectory from where the muzzle was when the pistol was fired.

Thanks Mark. Yeah, I've been slowly going through them... sadly I have nearly 500 left to go through.

Great details and greens.

I like seeing things with photography that are not so clear to the naked eye.

Nice shot, I would say that has to be the bullet. The shell casing is barely out of the gun which means the bullet would barely be out of the gun so you should see if somewhere in the frame and thats the only thing I see that could be it. I think the angle makes it look strange.

After climbing all the stairs to the top of the little church named "Alter Peter" downtown München for the best view of the city, I so enjoyed this little German lunch at the nearby famous Hofbräuhaus. Prost everyone

The beer tasted great .... .... yes I had another.

It's probably the last bit of muzzle flash. It's surrounded by the powder cloud. A .38 special bullet moves at 600 feet per second (yes, I know it's not a .38 special). The shutter speed was 1/2500. The math works out to the bullet traveling about 3" in that span. If anything, the bullet would be a darkish streak which would be mostly invisible against that background.

Cool shot, though. The noise is barely noticeable. Impressive for a T3i at 6400 ISO.

If you assume the shooter was going for a head shot, the trajectory could be ok. If you think about the gun sights lining up with the red line, the bright spot would be where the muzzle was just before the shot. That's why I'm thinking it's the last remnant of the muzzle flash.

We need some of the gun owners from the OT board to look at it.

Thanks Dave! I love being able to see his "ear" and the details around his eye.

I think it is a hot spot from the muzzle flash...

I figured I'd post it here too... It was posted in the watch thread, but I'm sure most of you don't visit that one.

I am a gun owner. Without arguing this to the fraction of a millimeter, my opinion is that if you draw a line from where the rear sight is to the head of the target, assuming that this was a head shot, the white light is way above the trajectory. Drawing a line from where the muzzle is on the picture does not give you a proper trajectory, as the pistol wasn't fired with the muzzle in that position. I think that it's just a light on the range. Also, a muzzle flash would be yellow or orange, not white, and much larger.

No argument from me. I'm far from an expert on pistols. The only reason I thought the light might be from the gun at all is that it appears to be in the center of the powder cloud. My first thought about the bright spot was also that it's just a light somewhere on the far wall.
