Actually there were no air bubbles...those indentations were from its weight on the water...the ripples were from its movement and sudden stopping....

Agreed. Nice shot, rem.
So is yours, panicos. I can't wait until April when I'll be near an ocean and can try some of those shots.

guys what i'm i doing wrong? i feel my photos are not..how can i put this.. "alive". i mean, somethings missing.. for example the two above pics, remmibs pic certainly looks way better.. it feels different.. My PP on that shot was minimal so it shouldn't be that.. or maybe it was because of that? i don't know.. is it the camera/lens?
any thoughts? critique?

Not sure what you mean. Your pic look fine. Rem's pic has very nicely done bokeh, but that would have ruined your ocean pic. And closeups like rem's are more likely to have that 3D look than a seascape picture.

sorry for the realatively colourless picture compared to what you guys have been posting up.
Just thought the bird was showing off and it was cool. |

Great, dramatic colors and the water droplets add a lot of interesting detail.

Yeah, pixels are showing, even in internet size. Unfortunately, no matter how sharp you focus if you're too far away you can't crop. That's why, if you do enough of this kind of shooting, you'll end up spending mega-bucks on a long lens.

Well, it IS a grey bird. Things are complicated by it being backlit. You might raise the overall level and then increase the contrast a bunch.

I lik this one though, I caught the bird just pulling the thing ouf of the ground then throwing it into it's open mouth, thought it was unique. And the bird is that red and white in real life, not too much editing done. Nature has amazing colours. |

Well since we are showing Herons/Storks/Egrets here is my shot of a Great Egret in their nesting area about 1/4 mile from my house(why do i get the feeling the weather is becoming better with all the beach/water type shots lately):

It was actually dry and sunny, so I blocked the sunshine and water is sprayed on.
