^^^Cool shot, DC. Nice detail. I liked your two bird shot on your Flickr page, as well. Great timing.

I watched Junior flap his (or her) wings a bunch today, thinking I might get to see a first flight, but alas, just much flapping before ducking back down into the nest. Soon though, as the parents are flying longer and further away from the nest these days.

Some lovely shots here gentlemen.
Fabulous thistle shot Dave, and also your sunflower image. A great shot of the young osprey Ed, I hope you manage to see it's maiden flight, and what a beautiful blue sky. I can only dream of seeing a sky like this ! 2 great Honda shots Druu, especially like the composition, atmosphere and colour of the first one.

This 'half-moon' shot was taken just 19 minutes after sunset to try to get best definition on the craters.
Shot using a Canon 50D, 100-400 lens (at 400mm) and 1.4X converter. Half Moon_3012 copy by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

For the first one was very light off camera flash and a lot of burn/dodge + AM golden hour in Soho, NYC.
For the second one i tried to go for that import tuner magazine kind of look, with the off camera flash, bright and punchy. It also shows off the carbon fiber a bit better. |

Thanks Alex, you're very kind.
I'm looking forward to the start of the aurora season next month. We still don't get much darkness here at this time. Although we're a few weeks past the longest day, sunset is still after 22:00 and it doesn't really get dark until well gone midnight.

Thanks! I have been told I take too many photos of one thing. But as you know, you can have 100 shots and only one takes the cake. Also, no work done to it. Just straight capture and no filters. Really appreciate the compliment!

Nice shot Ed.
Having worked with railway signals all my working life, it's good to see a gantry like this, . . . and the deer of course.
