Looking to get a TA31F or TA31RCO ACOG and just wondering if any of you guys with astigmatism can comment on clarity/relief.

Do you need perfect eye sight (natural or with glasses/contacts) to really utilize it?

As an example, I struggle a bit with red dots but extremely comfortable with holographics.

Wow, speaking of 320s! Just got back from my local shop, no intention to buy anything but they had this used for a great deal. 320XC with the Leupold DP Pro and TLR-7A and two weighted 15rd mags for $800! The dot alone is $450 and has a big window like my SRO Pro so I think it was a great deal. Looks lightly fired as well, so I feel pretty lucky. Was never a SIG guy but too nice to pass up!

That is a sexy gun. What optic are you going to put on it?

What are some recommended 5.56 defense ammo recommendations?

I am normally a Hornaday or Sig self-defense bullet guy, but I cannot find it right now in 5.56. or at least cannot find it anywhere I like my credit card being processed through (why is it the guys who have bullets in stock aways are places that seem shady as hell? lol)

I normally run .223 through it for the range for cost, but for the if-shit-hits-the-fan mag, I want some good stuff. Recommendations?

I really like Gorilla’s ammunition. I regularly shoot their 300 BLK ammunition, but their 5.56 range is quality as well.

Do you guys like LPVO or HWS with magnifier more for a battle rifle?

The mission drives the gear train.

What is your idea of a battle rifle? Do you want to shoot out to 50 yards? 100? 600?

For me, anything inside of 100 yards gets a RDS. So, personal defense and urban patrol rifles fall into that category. Speed is more important than precision. Still, beyond 50 yds could use a magnifier, time permitting.

From 100 out to 300 you'd be fine with a fixed power scope or a dedicated magnifier. And younger eyes can do that with iron sights.

If you want to reach beyond 300, you'll want better magnification. LPVOs work well here. I have no problem hitting at 600 with a 1-10x set on 8x. FYI, don't use the top of the magnification range. There is enough distortion there to throw-off your shots. So, if you think you need 8x, get a 10x scope.

Scopes are expensive. You'll pay as much for a high quality LPVO as you did for your rifle, and probably more.

I'm not concerned about cost when I know that the quality is there. My main apprehension to go to a LPVO instead of my current EXPS3+G45 is the reticle brightness and the clarity when zoomed all the way in. I was looking at the Vudu 1-10. This is for my Scar 16s and I would like it to be effective from 100-600

I haven't tried the Vudu, but I hear it gets good reviews from end users.

That scope should have plenty of reticle brightness for all of your needs. My Vortex 1-10 had way more brightness adjustment than I ever used at the class I took it to. That class was all daytime, looking up a hill with shadows, brush, and terrain to obscure the targets. A bright reticle was never a limiting factor. I bet your Vudu is just as good.

Something else to consider: a higher power variable scope, something like a 2-12 or 3-15, and an offset RDS or other close-in sight. Those higher power variables generally don't suffer as much distortion on the high end as the 1-10s do.

Not a clue. It took so long to get this thing in that I kind of spaced doing research on what I want to run.

Grendel and Valkyrie is my toughest ammo to find in quantity for decent price. I bought a bunch of the green steel case wolf pre war, was supposedly going to be discontinued but might not of been. SGAmmo is a good source for hard to find calibers, got a deal on brass case grendel last year but it went quick.

LOL. I have Hornady VMax in some ready mags as well as M855 for 5.56/.223, plus Hornady Black 75g for can applications.

Good luck finding Grendel ammo. I got out of Grendel last year and was offered a pretty penny for my stash of ammo.

Anyways, new gun day. Got a cheap Tisas in. The trigger feels better than my recent Springfield Prodigy.

^^ Nice 1911!

Tisas up'd their 1911 game. They have a good spread of 1911s at reasonable prices.

Anyone used Primary Arms scopes/optics? Looking at a 3x18x50 or a 6x24x50.

I see Primary Arms come up a lot and hear the name in podcasts a bit, but their prices are sometimes too good to seem true.

Primary Arms is good to go. Been around for years and a strong 2A supporter since it's humble opening.

PA branded optics are on par with Holosun offerings. So if you looking for something budget friendly PA optics are worth considering and PA's lifetime warranty on optics is exceptional as well.
