Ford slashes price of EV after sales drop by over 50% — see how much money you can save
March 1, 2024
You can now pick up a 2023 Rear-Wheel Drive Mustang Mach-E for $39,895, according to Green Car Reports, marking a $3,100 price reduction.
But bigger savings can be made elsewhere, with an $8,100 cut on the Premium RWD (Extended Range), Premium All-Wheel Drive (Extended Range), and California Route 1 AWD. The former can be snagged for $45,895, while the latter two can be purchased for $48,895. Green Car Reports offered a full breakdown of the savings by model.
As Reuters reported, via CNBC, Ford has said sales of the Mach-E in the United States fell by 51% in January, while the Mach-E and other models also lost eligibility for a $3,750 tax credit.

When facts don't matter there is always Harvard University.

Deaths from fossil fuel emissions higher than previously thought
More than 8 million people died in 2018 from fossil fuel pollution, significantly higher than previous research suggested, according to new research from Harvard University, in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, the University of Leicester and University College London. Researchers estimated that exposure to particulate matter from fossil fuel emissions accounted for 18 percent of total global deaths in 2018 — a little less than 1 out of 5.
“Our study adds to the mounting evidence that air pollution from ongoing dependence on fossil fuels is detrimental to global health,” said Marais. “We can’t in good conscience continue to rely on fossil fuels, when we know that there are such severe effects on health and viable, cleaner alternatives.”

It will be interesting to see if access to Tesla's charging network, which went live yesterday, will help boost sales of the Mach E.

I take such studies with the same amount of validation I do with anthropogenic climate change studies. A math exercise, which the results are not provable.

Considering the Mach E costs more than a Model Y, is slower, has worse range, and is also just as much a POS as the Y, probably not. Just useful for the like 15 people who bought them.

4 in 5 is pretty low I think.

There are a handful of professors that retired from successful careers and then decided to teach in their retirement. You have a better chance of getting one of them in a place that's nice to retire to, like the beach in FL.

The vast majority of professors though are either corrupt government grant vacuums that just live for their kickback of that government funding, or people who couldn't hack it in the professional world and never left academia so they could stay in Fantasyland.

China Discovers World's Largest Oil Deposit
Mar.02 - 2024
A crucial discovery for China, aiming to reduce its energy dependence, has come to light with the Chinese oil company China National Offshore Oil Corporation, better known as CNOOC, reportedly uncovering the world's largest oil deposit in the Bohai Sea. This is reported by Naftemporiki.
The Bozhong 26-6 oil field, discovered in 2022, has now confirmed record levels of hydrocarbon reserves following a series of drilling operations, potentially exceeding 1.3 billion barrels (over 200 million cubic meters).
The gigantic deposit was found in metamorphic rocks in the Bohai Sea, a small inland sea located at the northern tip of the East China Sea and northwest of the Yellow Sea, on the northeastern coast of China.
https://www.dagens.com/news/china-di...st-oil-deposit

What caught my eye was
2.5 Petroleum Occurrence
Petroleum reservoirs are normally found in sedimentary rocks. Rarely, petroleum is found in fractured igneous or metamorphic rocks. Igneous and metamorphic rocks originate in high pressure and temperature conditions that do not favor the formation of petroleum reservoirs.

Tesla: It's Okay to Double-Park At Supercharger Stalls In A Non-Tesla
However, there's something funky going on that we've known about since Tesla started installing its Magic Dock connectors: its Supercharger cables are just too short. Now, non-Tesla vehicles might have to double-park charging stalls, and Tesla's app seems just fine with that.
That's now a problem for non-Tesla owners. For example, Ford's F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E have the charger inlet positioned near the front wheel of the driver's door. The Supercharger cable is too short to reach the front of the vehicle when it's backed in, and when the car pulls in, the charge port is then located on the opposite side of the vehicle. This means that the only way for the vehicle to charge is to double-park and block another charging stall.

Non issue, everyone charges at home anyway. Right?

Tesla Could Make $10 Billion On Charging Stations
March 1, 2024
Several car companies acknowledged that they could not create EV charging infrastructures. In a form of surrender, they agreed to use the one Tesla had built. Tesla will get a windfall of revenue because of these decisions. One expert organization says the figure could be $10 billion a year. Tesla had a total revenue of about $25 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023 and warned its business would slow this year as EV adoption growth rates tail off.
In the final quarter of 2023, Tesla had revenue of $25.2 billion and Adjusted EBITDA of $4 billion, a drop of 27% from the same quarter the year before. An additional $10 billion in revenue per year, most of which goes to the bottom line, would substantially change Telsa’s EPS figures. That is a big deal for a company with its shares down 18% this year.
