because real work needs a PC?

Macs are constantly a challenge in the enterprise.. compatibilty issues out the wazoo. Love the hardware and would use it for personal stuff, but damn if it's not a PITA to figure out work arounds for business use. I had a MBP and gave it up for a Lenovo because I got fed up with 'hacks'.

I tried using a Mac and I just plain don't like the setup of them. I prefer PC's for the pure compantability with everything and I feel it is easier to navigate through.

What I have notice is Apple has a cult following and does BMW so it does not surprise that many people who buy BMW also buys Apple, they have a lot in common.

For work, PC. Mature, proven, enterprise-class toolsets for administering Macs dont seem to exist, and when your ERP vendor sez we will not support you if you run the client on a MAC, even in PC emulation mode, well thats the end of that.

For play, Nexus 7 running Android 4.1. Apple-like performance, stability, UI elegance, malware-resistance. PC-like cost.

To me, Macs are more like, say, Spyker, than BMW. Too expensive for the performance you get.

I have a Mac and do real work and make $$$. Don't need a PC to do what I do. So that statement does't apply to everyone. Each to his own...

Actually yes, I use it daily in my line of work . By saying most, in my opinion it does imply a majority, thus why I mentioned it doesn't apply to everyone. I was asserting it does not apply to me, which I am free to do. I would have thought that point obvious. I will admit I was being overly analytical, an unfortunate side effect of my daily duties.

Right back at you... See, i can be childish too.

Wasn't being childish, the moon smiley was actually to signify I was just poking fun at you as a sort of playful banter....

Just pointing out that you called him out on a statement he didn't make. That's all. Don't get your panties in a wad.

It wasn't my purpose or intention to call him out. Just stating it didn't apply to me in my own enthusiastic way.

I wear boxer briefs, panties are way too expensive these days.

because the software we use are only available in windows?

I have a macbook air and a windows laptop. If i'm going on vacation with the family I will bring the macbook air, but if i i go on a work related trip/conference I have to bring the windows laptop, no question asked.

Really? The last time I checked, editing a film via Final Cut was Mac only, and Media Composer on a Mac has and will be choice 95% of the editors I've worked with.

Mind you, he's won an Oscar and earns ~$12k a week cutting on a Mac...

Macs are primarily used for multimedia work, yes, but 99% of everything else is done on a PC. The world is run by PC's and most of the services you get on your Apple devices are run from PC servers that run Windows, Unix and Linux. Apple's business model is focused on end users and experience, more the front end device and not the back end Enterprise. That's also why there are so many compatibility issues when using Macs in a corp environment.

Don't take my word for it, just read almost every post in this thread of people with Macs.

Multimedia? MAC
Everything else? PC

I can understand that people with little knowledge choose mac, and those who buy it for the status :P But it still doesnt offer better performance/price ratio compared to a PC.

If by 'people with little knowledge' you me people with little patients for constant upgrades, compatibility issues, over complicated application installation routines, etc. then yes, that is us MAC users. I have had 0 issues with MAC in corporate and home environments.

PCs are chosen for the enterprise by IT managers for job security of their department.

That is factually incorrect. They are chosen to meet needs.

at least PCs can upgrade instead of just throwing it all out the window.
Compatibility issues?
if installing stuff on windows is difficult, then yes, you qualify as someone with "little knowledge" lol

+1
Most specialized software for industry and the likes are made for windows, they can't do that on macs!
