Do you have a seller's disclosure? If so it might be in there. If you must disclose it and you do not then you are setting yourself up for a really big and really bad lawsuit you will lose. |

My friend moved into a house where a kid murdered his parents, buried them under the floorboards, and then threw a party the same night.
They got a friggin good deal on it, too. I'd do it. People are paranoid as shit about ghosts. |

As a profit seeking venture, no. You won't be able to resell it for what you think you will be able to. Declining market, with a big announcement on the MLS that someone shot themselves in the home... not a good mix for profitable flipping.
As a long term home, I would've said yes, if the house was perfectly restored when you saw it. But you got a glimpse of the blood stain and bullet hole in the wall, that would be a bit much for me.

In Texas, they have to disclose violent death (murder) or is someone dead because of condition associated with the house.
Working in the medical field, it really does not bother me at all. Of course, if my wife cannot get past it, we are looking elsewhere. I dont believe you have to disclose to any future buyer about the entire history of the home. It would be the responsibility of their realtor to do a little research, but it is not a widely known fact about this particular home. And I have no responsibility to disclose anything except what happens while I am there. This house is in a very desirable neighborhood with large lots (greater than 1 acre). Just curious about other members feelings on this. Again, I have never run into this before when looking at a home. Any ghost stories about homes from you guys? |

When I was younger and moved into our house my dad said the old owner died in the bath tub, I was kinda scared and especially of the attic which my room leads to and i had my bed put in the far corner away from the stairs. I got over it by middle school and the guy didn't die in the tub. But either way if I didn't bother me...who doesn't get freaked when they are home alone trying to go to bed on a windy night and start thinking weird stuff or see a figure in the corner but its just your lamp?

Like others have said, it depends on how the person died. If it's of natural death then sure. Even then I might get goosebumps thinking about it. If someone's committed suicide or was murdered they might still be around and take vengeance on those that live there now. You never know though. Some spirits are calm and quiet while others want to show you who's boss.

i have never bought a used house nor expect that i ever will...so i never worry about this issue....but then again, what if someone died on the land you bought your new construction on 100 years ago? u just never know...but at least they didnt die inside my house.....Anyhow, if you look long and hard, you will be able to find new construction at fairly decent prices, especially right now. homebuilders are always building.
