It was classless... no doubt...

BUT...

In true Italian fashion, the Italian player dove like Greg Luganis after he got hit. He would have had a 10 if it weren't for the Russian Judge.

As much as I love futbol, I just can't stand how the players flop like a fish out of water the second they are even touched.

What I'm really curious to know is what the Italian said to Zidane to provoke him to hit him.

FORZA AZZURRI!!
The announcers on ABC were garbage. We ended up watching the game on Univision, the spanish language station. So much more enthusiasm for the game. The ABC announcers were just as bad as Joe Buck and Tim McCarver on FOX during a baseball game.
Zidane truly did put a bad mark on his career. He has retired in disgrace. Either way, he helped Italy win the World Cup!
Bella, hopefully you are in NY during the next world cup. All over NYC there were parades, flag waving, singing the Italian national anthem.. Unbelievable!

That was such a cheap shot man - he could have killed him if he had hit him hard enough.

I screamed so hard when they won my cat thought I was having convulsions.....

Good thing I'm not most Americans! Great post and photos Bella! You look HOT too--damn! Zidane is a typical French bastard...I was going for Italia and if a professional futbol player cannot keep his discipline then to hell with him! Glad to see the Italians win it all!

My mom has been watching the Italian tv channel RAI, she said ALL night long they've been showing the parties in italy. The players returned back to italy, and they showed the thousands of people waiting for them at the airport. The hometown of Marcello Lippi is going to have a parade, the government is throwing a huge party for the players and the country. OMG i would KILL to me there!

Malto bene

Not having grown up watching futbol, I found the first 110 minutes to be a bit slow. Nevertheless, it got exciting later, and I was afraid that France was going to score toward the end of regulation, and right up to the point where Zidane lost it. Italy looked totally fried, even playing a man up.

Stallion, if you have been around this forum for a bit on Off-topic, you perhaps would realize that Shim never says anything without his tongue firmly in cheek. In fact, he'd put it in both cheeks at the same time, if it were possible. Mostly, like a smarter version of wweholic, he just wants to get a rise out of ya.

Its funny how, with every world cup, i always say.. i cant believe ill be this old for the next one. When i was 10 Baggio missed the penalty agaisnt brazil, then i said wow ill be 14 until it happens again, then 18, and now 22. I cannot believe ill be 26 for the next WC, who knows where my life will be, but its my goal to watch it in italy.

I was in Spain in 1982 and watched Italy go on to glory - Biaggio was incredible....2006 and I am here in Italy watching them give the "franchutes" a much deserved spanking....I have never seen so many happy faces today, Monday....with a little bit of luck the scandal will blow over - I doubt Berlusconi will be as lucky.....

Here is a good vid of the "testata":
