Shortly after I saw this thread for the first time, I pulled up behind a white Merc with the Euro size plate, which had the California registration sticker on it. My wife was with me so I know I didn't imagine it. Looked good, but weird.

Was it like a '14 or '15 E350 like the one I posted, or different? Super funny coincidence.
:lol

It was in the San Fernando Valley, near Los Angeles. Looked a lot like this photo:

Someone did a NV/Euro rendition plate here in Vegas, on a modded 3 series. I didn't take a picture. I'm sure he'd get pulled over as he's not a middle-aged woman and the car was not stock. It was creative, but I wouldn't risk it.

euro plates look HORRIBLE. both front AND rear!

Unfortunately, more than half the states (31) require a front plate.

FWIW, I went ~12 years in MA without a front plate and was never ticketed (despite getting pulled over for speeding). I would just have to put it up temporarily (toe hook) to pass state inspection.

Yeah, lived in CA and TX which both require front plates and I've never had to pay a single ticket for not having them (aside from parking tickets for that and window tint in DTLA.)

Same, I have always lived in CA where you need front plates. I would say approximately 80% of my owning a car and driving I have not had a front license plate. Never been pulled over, much less for that. No one has ever really mentioned it either. It's kind of like one of those violations that a LEO could use as an excuse to pull you over if they are upset or think you did something naughty but didn't catch you, or something they would pile on to a ticket for something else you did.(i.e. speeding, roll stop-sign, etc)

So many people don't have front plates here that they don't really bother looking out for it, as opposed to other "quieter" states where I know they'll look and go after it. There's such a backlog of calls when LEOs are on-duty here in CA it's not worth the time for them pulling you over, same for speeding generally unless you're going 20+ mph the rest of the drivers and you stand out.

Ok so after seeing this thread I have been paying more attention and just saw this Florida plate yesterday. First one I have seen (noticed?) like this, and this is a Florida plate. No one I know has ever seen one of these before:

They may have gotten it from here. This company creates custom European style license plates that look like they are state issued.

Looks pretty cool, neat that you saw something similar.

Can we talk about that roundel badge though?
