That's worth noting because Volvo keeps advertising the range as "up to 300 miles". Is the range of 600km only for the EU market?

Its most likely because the EU market uses the WLTP cycle which typically posts higher range than the EPA.

I personally think the EPA needs to redo how they rate EV range. MPGe is one of the most confusing terms to the general public that I think no one actually understands. They should do it the same as a gas car, and provide city, highway, and combined ranges to make things simple and easy.
