Yeah and soon all settings will be in the menu via touch screen because buttons are old tech.

Right now bmw is setup for wireless. I'm sure the software will be wired and only one specific outlet for input. Thus, won't need "chips" for wireless per se. that's my guess. It's like the touchscreen that needed software to work without touch. |

I don't understand why this is an issue at all?
Processor switch and need to port the code over or something similar. Not enough time to do the port and QA the code. Would people rather wait for the port to get the car? I'm okay with the tradeoff 8fnI get my car sooner.

Totally agree with this. I've seen it everywhere. So many businesses continue to blame Covid for all manner of problems. It's been a few years now; one would think they could adapt. There is more to this than "chip shortage" garbage, but there is nothing I can prove.

Can't wait till I have CarPlay back on my '22 F40. I picked it up last week. I absolutely love this car.. but after previously having three cars with CarPlay I really miss it in my new BMW.
I really hope they can just push it OTA instead of going to the dealer for an ISTA update. I bought the High Beam Assist earlier this week from the Connected Drive Store and that installed remotely perfectly.

Is bmw Navi good in terms of routes/ traffic etc. ? I always go with google maps as my go to choice for accuracy but it doesn't show up in the HUD. Apple Maps shows turn by turn in HUD so that is my go to option if I have unique destination I've never been to. But I never really use the bmw navi. Is it good ?

Don't know about you guys but I don't use carplay. I actually quite hate it. The iDrive 7 connection is superior to me

Delete Spotify from CarPlay apps in your iPhone settings and then it won't interfere with iDrive Spotify. Settings General CarPlay Choose BMW connection and then Customise.

I use it for podcasts (Overcast). And I use Apple Music instead of Spotify.

One thing I loved about CarPlay on ID6 was that the voice button on the steering wheel activated Siri, even while ACP was just running in the background, which made for example searching a destination incredibly quick and easy. Once the destination popped up on screen, scroll down a couple clicks, select "Send to BMW Nav" and it would flip over to the car's native navigation. Always preferred this as directions would then be on the HUD. Haven't used this in ID7 yet but hoping that's still how it works when my new car arrives. Voice to text also very useful

If I'm assured I can I can get CarPlay with an update, I'm OK otherwise it's a deal killer for me. I agree that BMW map system is better, but I really like the CarPlay interface otherwise.
