I'm originally from New Orleans. My friend drew it for me before he died in the late 90s at the age of 17.

Here's mine. Not done yet, it needs all of the color added as well as the rear set of ITB trumpets highlighted and some spots finished up. Really hope I can swing to get it finished when I'm home for the holidays (artist is in Chi).
I wanted something to signify how my automotive love makes me who I am. I didn't want a branded label, so instead of a vehicle specific road car engine, it is a Cosworth-Ford DFV V8. Most wins for an engine in racing history. over 30 years in use. Glorious days when everything was mechanical. I need to speak with the artist about the effects of it too. Original discussion was that it was to fade out all 360* around to make it mimic the automotive photographs where they take the same picture hood open and hood close and then have the hoods fade away to reveal the engine inside. It does fade on the edges but does not have that below the surface/skin effect that I want. Still looks like its just tatted on top. Justin |

There are some awesome tattoos in here! Got my first one yesterday. Gonna have "The Dangerous Summer" written on my back right under the last bird, but here it is:

Seriously, most tattoos look like shit to me. That has style, and it's light enough to stand the test of time. Good to see someone has some taste with these.
Yes boys, that was criticism towards most of you.

my one and only tattoo is now 16 years old - got it back in October of 1998...
it's a Marine Corps tattoo and the color has faded pretty much.... I'm scheduled to get another tattoo this Thursday on the side of my left arm and down about 3" under my elbow - it's the start of a sleeve... this tattoo will be dog tags - the chain will be looking like it's coming out of my skin and each dog tag will have something different on it... first tag will be identical to my Marine Corps dog tag, complete with social security number, blood type and religion..... the other dog tag will simply say Semper Fi..... can't wait.....gonna be sitting in the chair for about 4 or 5 hours...... |

I just want to echo what some others have already said: consider the location so that IF you get a job offer, you can cover it up.
Also, once you get ink the blood bank really looks sideways at taking your donation. I have the Lakota circle of life on my upper shoulder. At one point, each of the four feathers had the correct color to signify the direction it faced and the belief of what that directional provided. Can't always recall the color that is SUPPOSED to be there any more. Years of sunburns in the ocean have made his redskin pretty much look like my tired old leather hide. |

for the last 5 or 6 years, I have explained to my buddy withg a sick looking sleeve that "I would get a sleeve, if I didn't work in the corporate world"... well, after 6 years of saying this, I told myself that I was going to get a sleeve on my left arms and just get used to wearing long sleeve shirts to work..... tomorrow, I will have dog tags placed on my forearm, but not all the way down to my wrist (sleeve won't go down that far for another 6 or 7 months I think)... so yeah, I'm taking the plunge of getting a sleeve, even though I work in a dedicated white collar job.... |

You are 6 years into the position, probably much less risk they will judge your sleeve over your work. Being oil/gas, even if corporate, there MAY be more acceptance.
BUT, were you to show up Monday with a Dallas Star on your forehead, Tuesday you might not need to show up. (no disrespect meant if you don't like Dallas, just using it as an example.) |
