The 5D MkIII/500f4 combination is stunning for this kind of stuff. All I needed to do was get on the right side of the light and fire away.

A rare and beautiful sunset here tonight.
Often, even on a clear day, there's clouds on the horizon so you don't see the sun dipping into the ocean.

Yes, nice reds, particularly considering there were almost no clouds.

Here's mine from Sunday evening:

Another Sunset From My Balcony by dcstep, on Flickr

This is very common for us, to have clouds just above the mountains, so that we get lots of red.

Awesome reds on yours too.

Just looking at your flickr exif to see the time stamp, I see the sunset here is pretty late, 9:26 PM, compared to yours.

Funny thing is that I feel it's getting dark so soon now.

And your flickr exif even tells the camera temp, don't think I've seen that before.

Thanks.

I'd never noticed the camera temp EXIF. That sounds about right.

Sunset here is 7:55 tonight. We're relatively far North and the Mountain Time zone isn't real wide, so we don't get a huge variation within the time zone.

Beautiful, but I think it needs a little CC rotation.

Yes, that did it.

Sometimes, when I'm in doubt, I'll blow it up to 200% and put a leveling line on the water horizon, even if you can only see a little bit and that fixes things up.
