I thought it was a thread about time travel. Not things that we do that we are too embarrassed to talk about. There's a confessional thread for that.

Me thinks that a trip to 1787 Philadelphia with a stack of newspapers from over the years would be my first stop, so that I could show the founding fathers what chaos a simple choice of words or missing punctuation has caused the future generations.....

Okay, so I've joked around about this time travel stuff.
But seriously, if time travel was possible, I would do the following: 1. Travel back to August 1, 1967, where I'd do my best to talk a fellow, same time draftee and classmate into enlisting and picking his MOS (military occupational specialty). He didn't do that and was subsequently KIA in Vietnam 8 months later. I tried at the time, but I regret I didn't try hard enough. 2. Travel back to 1978 and have serious talk with my dad about his undiagnosed and unrecognized heart condition. He died of heart failure at the young age of 55 in 1980. 3. Travel back to my junior year of high school (1964) and give the administration a piece of my mind about their incompetence and failure in getting bullying under control. 4. Travel back to 1970 and start a savings account.

I don't have an exact answer but here are my rambling thoughts. If I went back to change things how would it alter where I am today? I think about decisions I made or didn't make sometimes quite a bit and other times not for a while. I guess I wouldn't want to go back and change something if I couldn't see the outcome of how that decision would impact my life today. There were a lot of tough times, but I've got a great job making money and having flexibility I would have never expected to achieve in my current work role. I guess it makes me stop and be thankful in ways even though the roller coaster has had quite a few bumpy moments on it. If I knew that I could go back and change something that would result in me being in an even better place I would.
But, like everyone else would have enjoyed knowing some lottery numbers or buying stocks at the right time to make a small fortune and not have to work. |

Right now, I'd just like to be able to go back and hug my dad one last time, long and hard. I have no regrets, he was my best friend. I miss him so much.

I'd say maybe 100 years into the future to see if people have really colonized Mars and perhaps even beyond that. Leisure space travel should be the norm by that time and I think that would be pretty exciting.
Oh and I also predict BMW will have a fugly looking space vehicle. |

I would want to go back to 1968-1969 and watch Led Zeppelin in their very beginning and be one of the kids sitting on the floor of the Danish TV show which was one of their first filmings.
I think witnessing the invention of fire would be pretty epic. I'd probably want to witness random things like that instead of changing anything. Cause if you changed time or past events, then you wouldn't be you from the future anymore. "You" would no longer exist man… Puff puff pass bro. |
