But I don't think the post I quoted was talking about an S/4S, although those are still pretty damn wide tires. An M4 only comes with 285 I believe.

GT2 RS has 325 in back on 12.5" wide wheels. M2/3/4 has 265-285 on 10". I was able to squeeze 295 on my M2 so I'm guessing 345 could fit on the GT2 aka Viper meat.

So back to what I was saying, it's no mystery the initial acceleration rates with tires that wide on the Porsche.

anyway... awd+rear engine is about the best launch you can get these days.
To add, the LC system is widely regarded as the best in the business.

Even on the wet the turbo S is locked in. Races were not very close. I’d think in the real world the M8C makes a good bit more power than the Turbo S but no enough to not get absolutely walked no matter the race situation.

I am not sure if the M8C makes more power than the 992 TTS in real world situations since Porsche, like BMW, are known for underrating their turbocharged engines.

The massive weight advantage of the 992 TTS (3650 lbs vs M8C's 4295 lbs) probably accounts for a lot of the difference in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

Well, I do know the M5C dyno'd 617 wheel HP when Car & Driver dyno'd it. I think the 992 Turbo S will dyno around 560-570 wheel hp, which would tell me the M8C motor is making substantially more.

I think to get a 10.1 second quarter mile (as tested by CarWow) it has to be producing a bit more than that.

If we assume that Porsche underrated it by the same proportion as their Carrera S engine, then it should put down somewhere around (414 / 443) * 641 hp = 599 hp.

992 has the faster ET and trapping 7-8 mph more. probably has more or equal power, and its 600 pounds less. with most of its weight over the rear axle instead of the front like the m8.

kind of funny how porsches best tt6 is topping bmw's best ttv8

Porsche TT6's have been topping V8's of all shapes and sizes for decades. This is nothing new. The ZF8 is a great transmission but it can't touch the PDK (best performance transmission in the business) when it comes to launching (they are ridiculously easy to perfectly launch over and over) and when you consider the weight advantage it's going to take extreme power and traction for any larger vehicle like the M8 to beat it in a straight line. That said the M8 does pretty well all things considered.

And still are getting taken to the woodshed by the 911. It's not just a BMW thing as no AMG or RS TTV8 is going to touch the 911 in a straight line. The only vehicles able to do that are the exotics with dedicated lighter chassis and even they have their work cut out for them as the 992 is EV fast in a straight line.

It doesn't really make sense comparing the two cars. The Turbo S is a pure blood sports car and M8 is a big heavy GT car, an Autobahn cruiser.

I was talking to my wife about the Turbo or a Turbo S and she is definitely behind me getting one. I think she thinks that will give her more targa seat time. Now just need to find the money hehe.

I think I’d be perfectly happy with a Turbo. I already specd it out.
