Hey I enjoy the Clippers immensely, but the spotlight still belongs to Kobe and the Lakers. Sad to say, until the Clippers actually plays and beat out the Lakers in the playoff, they'll always be the OTHER LA team. I mean who knows, Sterling might revert back to his old self at the end of the season and decides to not sign anyone who needs resigning and let the team fall apart once more. Too many let downs led me to feel indifferent about the Clips.

Remember the old Danny Manning-Charles Smith-Ron Harper-Elmore Spencer-Robert "the Tractor" Traylor days? I was at the game where Elmore Spencer guarded the new talent of the league, Shaquille O'Neal. Elmore outplayed him in every which way, and the Clips beat the Magics. I still remember Danny Manning running down court pumping his fist after making a jumper putting the dagger into the heart of the Magics.

Remember the not so old Darius Miles-Lamar Odom-Q days? It was the most exciting Clippers basketball ever, for about 3 months. All so promising, all led to a tremendous let down. As much as I've rooted for the underdog clips, Lakers has always been what basketball games are all about. Certainly, no team can be always perfect, no ONE can be always perfect. But those moments of perfection is what we watch sports for.

I loved watching that team, I briefly turned into a clipper fan when that team was together and was always on fox sports net when I lived in SLO, and then moved to the OC

Today Vince Carter came out and said Kobe is not being a good role model by scoring 81 because the kids now think its all about scoring. This rite here is a great example of a Kobe hater and Vince Carter should be the last one talkin about being a good role model when last year he admited to playin bad so he can be traded in other words hurt the team for his own benefit!

Today Reggie Miller was on ESPN and they asked him what do u think of kobe's performance and what Vince had to say about it... he said it was probably one of the greatest performances he had ever seen and said its sad that his own peers have to say this about him and especially coming from vince one of the most selfish players in the NBA and sayin anyone who tries to bring Kobe down is just jelous. Then he wont on to say that Kobe mite seem at times that he is a selfish player but there is no one in the NBA that wants to win more then Kobe and he would do anything to win.

So for all of u guys that want to attack Kobe on any level go ahead because we all know the real truth.

you mean that he's a great scorer, but he's the entire team.

it's like the 76ers, when Kobe, or Iverson are on fire the teams will perform well, but when Kobe or AI have an off night their teams have ZERO chance of winning.

YOU said it perfectly ward! For the team kobe has around him if he doesnt preform well there chances of winning are slim... but when u have another allstar on ur team who can pick up the slack when u have an off nite its easier... and the lakers are an all star away from getting to that next level... but until then kobe does need to put up 25 shots a nite for them to have a chance... sad but true!

Great Article.
For all those nay-sayers, if you enjoy watching basketball for basketball, I'd suggest you watching the game.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...adlines-sports

"'As for a message to the youth,' Bryant said, addressing Carter's ridiculous statement. 'My message is that if you work hard, you can go beyond anyone's expectations, even your own.'

The kids are listening, if nobody else is."

All this bilge that "it's alright for an NBA player to cheat because other famous NBA players have cheated before" is perhaps one of the most retarded statements I have ever read on this forum, finally beating out the words of that holy KAS exhaust praiser.

So you think that personal character has absolutely nothing to do with career? That's laughable.

Michael Jackson. Child molestation. Ruined.

Jerry Lee Lewis. Married 13-year old second cousin. Ruined.

A hundred athletes. Drugs. Ruined. Killed.

McGreevey announcing he's gay. Ruined.

Bhatty Malik. KAS exhaust. Ruined.

Now, lastly, in my own eyes: Kobe Bryant, suspected rapist and cheater, ruined. While I'm not stupid enough to assert that he lacks basketball skills, it's quite apparent that the "haters" you LA folks preach of are actually quite abundant not only nationally but worldwide. While his reputation has been horribly maligned by his careless acts, he's doing ok in attempting to rebuild his reputation.

He didn't just cheat, but was suspected of rape. That's a totally different scenario. Even though the trial never went through, he's scarred for life. Poor fella...

.
Why don't you read thru the thread again? Noone at any point said it was ok to cheat because other NBA players did it. The only point was that other NBA cheaters were not met with the same reaction. And this was all because some golddigger decided it would be fun to make some $$.

cheating on wife is different from raping another female........he should be in prison not on the court!

athletes and celebrities always get special priviledges....i.e. Michael Jackson

btw....clippers win again!
