I've generally been rooting for Checo. I loved watching his win in Sakhir 2020 and he kinda fell into favor for me as an underdog, especially the story that netflix ended up spinning up, that's how I got my wife into watching F1 with me (she's a blind checo fan now). Cheering for him early last year was awesome - watching him win races over Max was fun. But then, as we now know, the car took some turns that he couldn't handle but Max could. I remain cautiously optimistic that they can get this car turned around and back into his comfort zone so we can start seeing a more competitive Checo.
His blunder in Baku was terrible though. Had he not wiped with Sainz and even just finished 4th, I think the current situation and feeling towards him would be a lot different. If he can't turn things around, it'll be disappointing. I'm not a blind Checo fan, but I do think most of the hatred towards him is unjustified and seems to be rooted in something beyond just his driving (not going to discuss this further, but even his team leaders are guilty). Even if he were booted from RB and ended up in a lesser car, I think there's still a good number of drivers on the grid that he's more talented than. |

Yep. Baku was his fault. He's made it hard to keep rooting for him...but I'm still in there.
In Mexico City, Checo is very visible in billboards and ads, much moreso than other drivers in other major cities. He's very marketable and has a great presence outside of the immediate F1 fanbase. |

Really, there is no arguing it, FIA has looked at it and applied the rules. Any other opinions are just that, opinions, partially rooted in bias. |

The Mexican government hasn't sponsored Checo since 2018 when the state-owned Pemex defaulted on their sponsorship contract with him. Checo's father is no doubt a politician, but there's currently no state sponsorships. Carlos Slim is responsible for the majority of Checo's funding as he owns a bunch of companies that sponsor him. He was the richest man in the world for 3 years. The majority of his fortune came from a cell network company. Given his financial power, he no doubt has political power, but he is no politician, and his money is private, not from a government. He was sponsoring race car drivers well before Checo came along. Many people in F1 have a lot of money. It's hard to get into the sport without it, and hard to move up as well, as can be seen by the fact that Colopinto is driving in F1 as his sponsors are basically paying the team for him to be there. |

Isn't Liam is being set up to replace Checo as early as 2025? If Liam outperforms Yuki then I truly think Red Bull will swap Liam for Checo. Or am I reading too much into Horner's recent statements?

I'm guessing Yuki is out of vcarb in 2026, so they'll need new drivers down there. Ditching Checo too early leaves them with gaps to fill. |

One thing is for sure ,we witnessed he isn't worth it to get his RB20 seat. F1 is a Team sport but Red Bull has just one driver... Checo should be replaced ASAP . Because by Checo , Red Bull lost the WCC (already)!

RB admitted that Checo called them out on the mistakes they made on the RB19 that caused his poor driving. They continued to screw up the car by ignoring him to the point that now even Max has issues. Checo is not blameless in this situation, but neither is RB and the RB leadership have admitted it. |

#Mexico and there's a reason why there's a 600 km border wall to keep things where they belong to be... And It's well known that Antonio Pérez Garibay (Checo's father) is no saint.. Said enough about this subject.. Yes I agree , Red Bull screwed up the car completely with a fundamental design flaw because the Frenchman Pierre Waché really s@cks and he will s@ck again with the new planned COTA upgrades ... Waché is not the new A.Newey... I'm pretty sure you mean the RB20...
