I think the winners here are the consumers. Maybe variations of the models are what they've asked for. Maybe they like some aspects of the M cars i.e. power and seats, but think the ride is too harsh (M2 w/out the option for EDC), M5 ride quality etc. Now they can choose their level of equipment and that's a good thing. It's not like the M2 and 1M owners that complain that they never got an M engine have been overlooked or anything...

Make an M3 CSL and take my money.

What's all the whining? The base M2/M3/M4 is as good as ever and still very reasonbly priced if you don't go nuts with the options. Now they'll be offering the base M cars with the same mix of street and track performance as always AND a number of higher performance options for people that want more and can spend more.
I don't get what there is to complain about. "Watering down the M brand" would only mean something if the cars weren't good. But they are, so that's a meaningless statement unless you're just buying it to impress people with your M badge. Guess what: People who don't care will still not care and people who do will still be impressed.

I think we need some more lower end M version. I think there is still a gap under m sport package and just regular old bmw. Maybe an m version that just has M stickers and no options. Just like a race car! Just AC delete. Cloth seats manual transmission small engine l and the M sticker. Charge as much as a 340

If it looks, sounds, and handles anything like the X5 Le Mans V12 then I'd say bring it on!
Don't forget it was 6MT too But of course, who the hell am I kidding. BMW will never make something like this, and even this X5 LM V12 was stuck in prototype stage. This was really just an excuse for me to post some BMW V12 content

Your dealer can dust off that list in another 4+ years. Scott already said in other thread CSL badge will show up first on M8 and G82 M4. Not sure which first though.

Buying an m4cs:$180k aud
Modding a stock m4 to match: priceless To me, modifying is a huge part of car ownership. If it ends up being more expensive than getting the upper spec one, so be it
