It looks like we have added several new folks, I assume from Bimmerpost, no jerks thus far! The tone is the same, it looks the same, no problem, other than the whole Army post thing (ex Navy nuke here!)

i'm glad i already had a username on E90Post with which to merge, being "imported_ajax" would not have been fun since there's already an ajax on e90 post... I do like the single login and the much larger forums for the areas that overlapped (non bmw section et al).

Can't really complain otherwise.

My work internet is very slow. The old addicts actually was still very responsive considering how slow our internet is.

This new setup is a bandwidth hog or something because it takes forever to load and browse. Oh well, guess it'll keep me focused on my work instead of keeping up with forums. .

Does anybody have problem with changing signature? I lost signature after migration and when I try to save new signature, it hangs for 30 seconds and then I get database error message.

Pirate, just like any inflammatory post, just use the "report post" function, by clicking the little warning sign on the suspect post. (like the one next to your jolly rogers)

That does for any inflammatory post.

There's a difference between being a "rat", and having another set of eyes look at something, to get their take on it. Thanks for pointing it out, and I've asked that it gets back on topic.

For me, that's exactly what made the merger look so scary. The consensus was that we had an awful nice "balance" in place, with just the right bunch of folks (and maybe just the right car models, too). The merger carried with it the possibility of upsetting that balance... which, thanks to a lot of hard work and diplomacy, hasn't yet happened.

Our happy gang of 1ers had a certain chemistry before, and it looks like it's still there. The Fun Bunch rides on!
You probably developed that opinion largely from the fact that 1addicts was your main forum of use. I could say the same about e90post.

You are correct. But I hope you don't confuse my loyalty with close-mindedness.

Early on, I divided my time pretty equally between 1Addicts, BimmerForums, and the BMWCCA.org forums. I still frequent all three, but the model-specific theme of 1Addicts has always been particularly appealing, for the obvious reason that it represented a targeted resource for tech/mech answers re. my 1-series.

That's the meat-and-potatoes. The gravy has been the good-natured attitudes, tolerance, and generosity of the other 1ers. Through trial and error, I found that 1Addicts was, and remains, one of the more genial and "troll-free" automotive forum sites around.

Based on testing the waters in several BMW sites, my admittedly subjective gut feeling - and one I still stand by - is that the 1Addicts, from the mods all the way down to the newbies, are the Bimmer drivers most likely to smile and wave passing you in traffic, and the ones you'd least mind parking next to your ride in a crowded lot.

As weeks pass, I expect this view will expand to include the membership of BimmerPost in its entirety, and I hope it will be reciprocated.

Well I can definitely see your points, and respect your opinion, but I still feel that it's equally applicable to e90post, mainly for the same reasons you just listed. I've yet to come across any 1ers that have been driven by enthusiasts (mostly teen girls in e83s unfortunately), but I have to say that every e92 driven by a guy I've passed has interacted in a positive manner of some sort, barring the typical exec figure.

The Bimmer community as a whole is equally inviting from how I see it. It all comes down to our individual experiences. Sometimes you might be unlucky and have a bad encounter, but for the most-part I've had a fairly positive experience.

Well said. Your points speak directly to that odd human tendency toward pessimism that makes the rare bad encounter more easily fixed in memory, while multiple positive experiences are either taken for granted, or regarded with suspicion. Explains why it's SO easy to make a bad first impression, while you sometimes have to prove yourself over and over to make a good one.

If all the BimmerPost regulars are as diplomatic as you, I think we'll all get along fine.

After reading this thread:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=196055&page=3

it gives me more less an idea of why pple on bimmerpost (not part of 1addicts) act and talk the way they do like in the 370z ( http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225724 ) thread and 135i vs GTR thread I posted: (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225733)

You called the 370Z ugly here, whereas it's one of the more liked designs on Bimmerpost, and a hell of a performance bargain. Fire met fire.

The thread title "135i vs GTR" could've been changed to something less...competitive...reflecting the nature of the video.
