Exactly. I agree with you 100%.

Is very distressing because many of us have real jobs in real professions with a real education and when we can't perform our duties or when it interferes with our ability to do our job correctly, which can result in major problems, it is incredibly distressing. I'm shocked that you don't understand that! Are you a sociopath or something?

Tell you what, since you don't understand this concept, why don't you be a big boy and publish your name, phone number, address and any other personal information you want. Let's see if you have the balls to do that. I'm sure there are some people on this forum who would love to give you a taste of just "a phone call".

Yes - definitely don't answer if you don't know the call - they use fake local #'s and try to get your SSN.

Yea come to think of it they don't even knock or ring anymore do they? I know they used to all the time. People must've complained and they changed the policy?

That's half the reason I got a smart door bell because the dogs would go crazy every time we had something delivered.

I got their apps set up to alert me when a package is delivered. I hate it when they tip toe to drop off a package and don’t ring the bell as there is almost always someone here and sometimes perishables are delivered.

Luckily we live in a gated community and before that only lived in apartments so have never really had to deal with random people at my door. However I do run a business from home so I have to answer the phone which is spam 90% of the time. My personal phone I never answer unless I know who it is.

Around this neck of the woods they still do! The Jehovah's Witnesses Watchtower Farm is about 10 miles away, and they have been trucking in pilgrim labor for a few years now to help build their new world headquarters. One has to admire their logistics and organization, having purchased motels to house the workers, set up their own private bus system, bought warehouses to build modular rooms, etc. Absolutely perfect neighbors though, except on the weekends when a few of the out-of-town pilgrims go door-to-door in service. I am actually polite with them.....

Years ago they used to visit me frequently. I was always polite, no matter how many times they interrupted me working on whatever I was doing at the time. After a few months of bi-weekly visits, I finally told them that I was not religious whatsoever and I felt that they were wasting their time with me. I should have known better. That's when their efforts became more concentrated. In their eyes it was a "lost soul" type scenario that they felt they would prevail. On their last visit, I finally told them to stop coming to my house or I would stop answering the door for them. I did tell them that since they were so persistent, that I would interview them for a sales position if they were interested. Initially they laughed, until I told them I didn't want to see them again, unless I was interviewing them.

As for door knockers these days, I still get them on occasion but it's one of two types, either religious folks trying to save my soul from damnation (I feel like I'm not the one that needs saving, it's those who have to deal with me on a consistent basis) or kids from school (aka the foot soldiers for Board of Education Nazis) that live in the neighborhood peddling their wares of useless stuff, so they can jump in a bounce house. Pretty ballsy to blindly knock on anyone's doors these days in my opinion.

I displayed the cross on my neck, they don't come around any longer. My son married a JW, who's father was big in the local. Within a year they divorced, and my son has been ADAMANT about donating blood as often as he can. He's probably up into the gallons range by now

Then my niece came to visit us from Canadia. Had no idea. Her and hubby walked down the street to the local worship place, maybe they told them to leave us alone

Before the Witnesses started their local construction projects, I found something that makes them leave and never come back. Did you know that my father-in-law is Brother blah, blah, blah from the Kingdom Hall that's far away enough where they don't know anyone from there? He's been trying to get me to join for a few years now, and I'm pretty sure that he will get the conversion credits for me on Jehovah's scoreboard. Courtesy not to step on an elder's recruits plus no conversion credits equals no more visits from those particular recruiters.....

Little tip for you guys that works for me. Go get a different area code phone #. these freak spam callers will always use a number identical to yours, I know it's a real call when it's the actual area code where i'm from. Every single time I see a matching area code I hit the red decline

It would be ok if it wasn’t so pervasive and incessant. The inability of the industry or government to control the calls has led to pretty universal scorn towards them entirely. If I get 10 calls a day and 1 is for a valid survey with the other 9 representing garbage calls, I will never know because I either do not answer or hang up immediately. How valid are samples if only outliers respond?

I don't understand anyone being incessant, it is a waste of money. I set our dialer to make one call, if a no answer or answering machine we call just one more time the next day then bin the record. Kinda pointless after that.
