You are right Bella. My grandfather died last night, glad I got to spend one more Christmas with the old bugger.

Thank you for your sympathy canucklion, it is much appreciated.

It was merciful really, he has been very ill with emphysema for a long time and on oxygen virtually 24 x 7. So he is at peace and back with my grandmother now.

Sorry for your loss jamie, but he is much better off. My grandmother passed away 2 yrs ago, and 2 months after she died, my grandfather went. He couldnt live without her..

Thank you Bella.

My experience is similar, nanna died mid August, and he said from that day it wouldn't be long before he was back with her.

Mt sympathies too, Jamie...wow, what a night to go...sometimes I think they time it that way on purpose. My wife's granddad died of emphysema a week after our first child was born....

BTW did anyone see Dick Clark post-stroke last night??? He was all Botoxed up and could barely talk...I don't know if it was triumphant or pathetic.

that guy freaks me out, he doesn't seem to age much over the years, probably feeds on newborns or something...

Thanks Stew.

It was a memorable date to go. My grandmother, his wife, went on their son's 50th birthday while we were all 2000km on the other side of the country - that is where the "90 mile straight" photo that used to be in my signature came from.

I think they must have both planned it that way... anyway, another 1000km country trip for me in a couple of days.

Happy New year a little late though

My condolences Jamie...

I have one grandmother left. Turns 89 this august. She was a teacher but some 12 years ago she got Alzheimer, she almost doesn't recognise us at all anymore....

OK, we had a big party in our football(soccer)stadium till 7.00AM!

Wow I still feel it
