I got my B+W UV and CPL filters from hvstar.net...which while it comes from hong kong..they are legit real B+W filters (I checked)...and youll find them about ~50% cheaper than anywhere else (but itll take 1 week to arrive once you order)

link below for the B+W XS-PRO slim MRC UV filter 77m & B+W slim 77mm Kaesemann MRC CPL(B+W's best CPL...its sealed internally)...for only $203.90 for BOTH!!! + free shipping (pretty much...as cheap as youll ever find)

http://maxsaver.net/B-W-Filter-Kit-X...-CPL-77mm.aspx

Link dont work!!

77mm Kaesemann MRC CPL alone would cost $180+!!!

I need a 77mm for my 17-55!!!

PS. they have 77mm Kaesemann MRC SLIM Circular Polarizer Filter for $145!?!

umm..................

this one works

yes they do have that one for 145...I got mine for 150 a few months back (i have the slim 77 Kaesemann MRC CPL and the slim 77 MRC UV)....

its no scam, Ive bought from there, and two of my friends have purchased, I am 100% positive they are real B+W

it just takes a week or so to arrive since it comes via Hong Kong Post...but they give you a tracking #

(they even included a free tiffen filter holder when I ordered mine...just came in the package by surprise)

Woo! Just been approached for a bit contract.

International Jewellery London is in September and I have been asked to provide some services. More a technical interview and if all goes well, should be able to be finally getting some nice payments out of it.

Now time to practice. For people who have light tents/light boxes, how do you find them? Portable enough?

So how does everyone protect their lens/camera/equipment when they go on a vacation?

I was on my trip 2 years ago with my first ever DSLR (Nikon D40x) to the Carribeans cruise.

Probably due to the humidity, hot and cold (coming in and out of the cruise ship), there was some slight water condensation INSIDE my LCD screen. Although it did not affect any of my pictures over the last 2 years, it is just pain in the azz to see it.

I'm planning possibly some trips again down south or europe and I'm afraid the same thing could happen to my Canon 50D and lens!! Not too sure what to do to avoid this, as I'm pretty sure I would be taking this camera going in and out again.

OR

Just dont take your DSLR when you go on travel? <-- but then, whats the point?

I've never heard of that but whenever I go to the ocean I always bring a big towel to cover everything up from the salt spray.

Let the equipment warm up slowly in the bag. (leave it in a car with no a/c)
or you could keep the camera in a plastic bag to help prevent the lens from becoming foggy. <-------not sure if that really helps though

might not hurt... it just looks a little bright in certain areas is all... maybe you just need to underexpose instead and brighten whatever it is you need to brighten in PS

yes. get an ND filter. which power depends on what you want to do with it.

say you want to get a running water shot with an aperture at the sweet spot of f/8. and you want to see the water running so you want a shutter speed of about a second (or 1/2 second depending on how fast the water is moving).
in bright sun, you'd normally need about a 1/1000th shutter speed to get a good exposure at that aperture and iso 200.
you'd need a ND filter that blocks 10 times the light - ND 3.0 or an x10 ND (however the brand/manufacturer labels it). so your perfect exposure of 1/1000th and f/8 can now be a perfect exposure at 1s and f/8.

though, it would probably be beneficial to get a set of ND filters that can be stacked or swapped so you can try different exposures while leaving your aperture at its sweet spot.

That's a question someone with an XTi or D40 would ask...HDR in general requires low ISO to avoid tons of noise.

I'm well into the $3500-$5000 range and I really don't have too much stuff to show for.

Once you start collecting glass the total gets astronomical. Some lenses cost more than a brand new Kia.
