Pretty tough to spot without the before pic though. the one thing that sticks out to me the most is the lack of far leg on the lifeguard chair. haha The person's head was blocking it and i didn't have much to use to recreate it, from a cloning perspective anyway... so i just left it off. It's the first thing i see when i look at it. On hi-res you can see there is a guy in the water with a funny looking arm as well.

a touch over done for my taste. Is that an HDR conversion or a filter?

This is auto tone, shadow/highlight with midtone contrast boost and lucis art 3 ED filter then an overlay of saturation on the background.

great stuff guys, here's my contribution.
one of my favorite type of edits is to take a boring color photo and make it "pop" by converting it into a black & white after: before:

I was playing around with some of the new stuff in CS5. Adjustment brush, and "filters" in raw processing, a few other things. I'm still working on figuring out everything it can do.

Taken at local Cars and Coffee meet. Believe the owner is a member on M3post, not for sure though..
Before & After. Cropped, levels, healing tool, then noise (dust/scratches) on the background, and a 20% yellow filter. Not too sure how to take the guy on the left out. and the little reflection on the driver side headlight..PS CS4. I'm an amateur so any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thx |

Didn't take too long. Just some patience. Lens flare is a hassle to fix.

And with a washed out sky like that, you can spruce it up with a light gradient.

The lens flare wasn't too bad as a good part of the image is white or black. Just lasso the flare and decrease saturation a bit. It would have been a lot more difficult if the car had been blue or red. For the flare in the kidney grille, I just selected the grille on the viewer's right and made it a layer, then used transform to flip it horizontally. Then I used the move tool to slide into place over the other grill. To remove the guy on the left, I just erased the part of him that had a white background. Then I used the selection tool to select the center vehicle, the shadow, and everything to the right and made them into their own layer. Then I just moved that layer left a bit to cover up the lower part of the guy on the left. The sky was a simple gradient overlay.
