He was quicker than Hamilton, because Hamilton had no tyres left.

Also, he was lucky to get a 5 sec penalty, it is usually a drive through.

That was useless anyway by the 5 sec. penalty from MAX .I don't think MAX is happy for the moment. But his race looked really promising .

A real nail-biter for HAM fans.

Mercedes strategy for tires was wrong and they nearly cocked up HAM.

The unsafe release by RBR was terrible as Monaco is one of the only tracks on the cal without 2 lanes in the pits. I think the 5 sec penalty was too lenient because of the potential loss of human life and other harm to the crews.

Other than hitting the 2 AMGs, Max drove a measured race and is maturing nicely. I'm really impressed.

LeClerc is being RUINED by Ferrari. They are doing to him the same thing McLaren did to Perez and will end up ruining a potential great. I'm I were Ferrari management my position would be: Vettel, you are here to mentor LEC. All strategic calls and preferences will go to him. You've been here 5 years and had 2 legitimate chances to win the championship and have been found wanting. This or out of the team. Pick your poison.

HAM was peerless. Second to none in qualifying and a masterclass in race and tire management during the race. The GOAT's demonstration is now complete...any questions from the floor?

The mid-field is exciting and very fluidic. Great job to all!!

The tribute to Niki was great and Mercedes needs to keep the Niki Halo on the car for the rest of the season!!

Cheers-mk

You only think you're sick of it. Go back and watch a race from 2005 and back. Full throttle from beginning to end. When F1 was a sprint and not an exercise in resource preservation.

What I meant, is that Hamilton was on medium compound tyres, while everybody behind him was on the more durabla hard compound. Even Bottas was about 3 seconds a lap quicker towards the end of the race.

What driver skills, Crashstappen does what he always does, crashes his way into position. Any sane driver who wants to finish a race moves out of the way for self preservation as Hamilton had to do.
He crashed into Botas screwing him out of position and then tried to sabotage Ham...all for what, he knew he wasn't going to win with the penalty he had. His pace wasn't any better than the two behind him. The gap back remained 1 plus seconds the whole race.

Leclerc had great pace as he moved up the line until he got desperate and reckless. Best driver goes to Hamilton for limping that car home on shredded tires.

The pit incident was 100% not Max's fault.

I love how Martin is so good at convincing me that there is actually a chance for real action to be approaching all the way until the end. He gets me every damn time.

If it wasn't for Max, F1 would be (even more) boring AF.

The unsafe release was not his fault. And who can blame him for the late and desperate lunge on Lewis? Of course there was no way he could pass the Merc but at least he gave it a shot. In times when everyone is complaining about a lack of action one should cherish the fighting spirit of Max.

Great race by Lewis though. And a fitting tribute to the legend Niki.

Yeah . Just throw Ham in the lead like in 90% of the races in the last 2 years . The others drivers will follow him gently , to let him win the race like usual .Who said boring F1 races ? I don't get it ...
Sabotage ? Give me a break ! Without Max we didn't saw a race in Monaco !

I was hoping Max would fully plow Hamilton off the road. I would honestly love to see a little more Nascar style battling...even though I don't like Nascar haha.

I mean this was definitely a drive thru, it didn't happen coz it would have been a complete snooze fest, imho the only reason he didn't get it, plus penalty points

Lewis and Max has such a friendship that they both wanted to keep.. Lewis knows Max is an extraordinary driver and Max knows Lewis is a very smart and super quick racer.. when they re together somewhere like post-session interviews, Max is tend to create conversation with Lewis.. i dont see him doing it with any other driver except the times with Ricciardo.. i dont think he d try to overtake Lewis at the chicane again even there d be 5-10laps more not to hurt such a relationship cause he even backed off a little after that incident.. which Red Bull wasnt able to keep on accelerations with Merc' even if Max was gaining a lot around Casino.. half a car length was becoming 3 cars at least on tunnel exit.. maybe there is not much ground for it but Max doesnt like Vettel that much.. im sure if Max needs to pick a side.. it ll be Lewis' side..

Max was 100% not responsible for the pit lane incident. His TEAM was 100% responsible for it, and F1 is a team sport. Should have been a drive-through.

HAM showed some reall chutzpah on that quali lap. The two guys closest to him both bounced their cars off stuff trying to keep up. Might have been nice if there were THREE guys (+ Leclerc), eh Ferrari? Sheesh.

Other than that the race was a snoozer. I think HAM is tremendous but geez man, sometimes you have to just shut up and drive. He spends too much time whinging over the radio.

drive through d hurt Max more since even if Monaco's pit lane is short speed limit is lower than most of the tracks.. Max was already ahead of Bottas actually there were no need to squeeze each other.. and pit lane turns towards left first and Max was inside.. if Bottas wouldnt change tires probably there wouldnt be a penalty.. but since Bottas car got damaged they want to compromise at some point i guess.. and i believe if it d happen again Max wouldnt steer right cause he was ahead already..

and edit: these conversations are so lost that it can be understood why Ferrari is making stupid mistakes..

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, oh it's over.

They need to take away that chicane coming out of the tunnel in the worst possible way, it was a horrible idea to ever put that there in the first place. At least give these guys SOME chance to pass.

I agree with you, but it seems the stewards thinks otherwise.
