That's because you didn't saw the first Blade Runner from 1982 => http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/

Dunkirk was an awesome film. I think you Yanks are just confused because it takes place in 1940. You lot think WW2 started in 1942.

No way . I watch movies on it for more than 6 months , and my family and friends too.
If it was bad .I would never post the link.

I open it via my laptop ,click on a movie poster and plug it on my big screen in my home cinema .
Works flawless !

Dunkirk is a great movie, especially for people with interest in history and who have read Dunkirk story well before the movies was made. It’s not a documentary, I get it but a sci-fi with dogfight at the end does make me cringe. Watching on a big screen with full IMAX experience makes a big difference as well. WRT greatest fighters - it constantly changes with time. There was no better fighter then Bf109 at the onset of WWII with Zero being the best in Pacific and by the end P51D, P47D, Spitfire, Yak3 and La7 ruled the European theater at the respective altitudes while Hellcat and Corsair essentially owned the Pacific.

Dunkirk was terrible. Watched it on the plane back from Hawaii and wished i had watched anything else.

I am all for a great war movie (or series), especially set in WWII. But, compared to Saving Private Ryan, or Band of Brothers, or Enemy at the Gates, Bridge on the River Kwaii, Schindler's List ... those movies took great stories and elevated them (even if they did take liberties with fact). Dunkirk took an incredible story and made it seemingly irrelevant. The story of what happened at Dunkirk could have made a great movie (I am still waiting for someone to turn Dieppe into one), but this wasn't it. Arguably, it might have been better than Pearl Harbor.

I like the story so much that the movie presentation only augmented my love for the actual event.

You are 100% correct that Dieppe would be an amazing movie. My state and Canada have strong connections with Dieppe in Canada owing to the Acadiana influence in my area.

I wonder if there is a script for it buried somewhere.

Yes it was a terrible film.

However, the story of what happened at Dunkirk did make a great movie, it was made back in 1958, one of the last films made by the great Ealing Studios, and starred the great John Mills, as Corporal 'Tubby' Binns.
Yes, the special effects are typical 1950's quality, but, as a film about Dunkirk, its leagues better than the ghastly 'new' one.

This.

It's definitely a Christopher Nolan movie. If you're not a fan of his rather unique vision, you probably won't like this movie.

If you're expecting Saving Private Ryan, you won't like this movie.

Fantastic movie and really tells what was going on back then that sowed the seeds of lots of our politics now.

I didn't care for how they twisted the timeline to make it appear that the photos of him delivering the weapons were released before his murder.

Other than that, thoroughly enjoyed the film. Tom Cruise is batshit crazy, but the dude can act.
