But to be fair, the FIA can technically do whatever they want. This is the same FIA that stole a championship from Senna. |

I agree the FIA can do what they want, but it's up to drivers, teams and us fans to stop them when it gets ridiculous. If your lovely government said everyone pays 90% tax, you think everyone will just agree and say, sure cause they say so? No, that would be the revolt of the century. |

Anyway, it's the FIA's choice and they think it's safer to not wear jewelry in a racecar than wearing it in a racecar. It's as simple as that. Quote:
You think it's a democracy? Teams and drivers are free to leave and race somewhere else. In the end it's the FIA that organizes the F1 and makes the rules. Sure the drivers and teams can vent their opinion. But be realistic, only a few drivers will give a small protest and then they'll just comply. Nobody gives shit about dramilton's piercings and watches or sebs dirty underpants When they leave the track/paddock to give interviews they can wear as much jewelry or underpants as they like.

The jewelry ban is literally aimed at 1 person. And if any of you know anything about FIA history, they are well known for targeting certain drivers....cough cough Balestra.

Checo PU
Checo PU down on power after the sensor reset, impressive he attempted a pass late in the race.
Before sensor failure (rocket ship) Sensor tripped speed (GP2 engine) After sensor reset (power reduced)

Racing fans pay the bills. No fans, no sponsors, no teams no racing. So yes we do have a voice, I'm not saying this one is event is worth all of that but irrationally setting rules in the long run turns people away. Do this enough times and you slowly erode your fanbase.

Yes and the social discussion decides whether or not the race will be held in it's entirety.
Like I said, F1 safety is a social discussion. Probably mainly being held by people that don't even watch F1 and yet play a vital role in it's future. F1 is getting more and more popular, so eroding of the fanbase...not happening But you are free to leave if you can't bear these rulechanges. You won't be missed There's only one person wearing excessive jewelry.... Just as there's apparently only 1 person in F1 with oversensitive bottom parts... Indeed it's the goal of the FIA to bully those two. It's not a safety thing at all!

I, for one, would like to see FIA give a grant for researchers to experiment on shear/tension interaction of prince alberts at 51g.

Displaying country-specific “celebs” instead of the actual racing on the broadcast? Showing people peeing in the hotel pool? Showing toll road traffic shots? Is this Liberty’s strategy to increase American fans? I do not understand this. Maybe 2019-2020 was the pinnacle for broadcasts (no fans).

I feel like F1 is forcing this event to have the vibe and feel of many storied events. This is my beef with Liberty Media. This reminds of of the early 2000s when NASCAR was expanding and viewership was through the roof. Soon as those fans got bored, they started making the cars more spec for closer racing. The fans still got bored and NASCAR nearly folded, had to cut back tracks and things were not looking so good. I feel like we are headed down the same path. Liberty will expand and milk F1, then when it's past its peak dump it to someone else. At that point who cares they 10x there investment. Which is all they care about. The Vegas race will be even worse. Just my 2 cents but this has happened in before. I love F1 I hop it flourishes but forcing it typically does not end well. Did you happen to hear the track announcer calling FP3 as it was qualifying? Wtf was that, put the sauce down and figure out where you are and what's going on. On top of that I have the time I can't even hear the cars due to loud music or the announcer who doesn't know what's going on. Oh and the tickets for a "sold out" event. There were empty seats around me, and people just sat there and no one cared . Qualy cost me 2k, for what would have been 200 at any other track. I'll probably attend Silverstone this summer so I'm interested to see the difference. |

Report is 50% of the tickets were purchased by marketing groups. I listened to BBC broadcast (J Palmer F1 app)and Fx sound. Requires syncing but easy enough to do.
