Small update from the German side of the pond...
The replacement parts for my M3 were ordered last Weds. and delivered yesterday. My car will be available for pick-up from the dealer this coming Thursday. Total turn around time since the delivery stop announcement was posted - 16 days. Realize this doesn't really help those of you who are waiting, but thought it might help to know that things are moving in the right direction ... |

Hey guys sorry for the long response time I'm on vacation rn. Any how when I referred to a vpc port I meant the one in New Jersey. For the north east. I have no idea about the one on the west coast but I could easily find out for whoever because I was recently in a week long class with the three west coast reps in California I will call Brandon Watson. Any how for the parts I meantioned earlier on the east coast yes they were most deffinatly sent in via air fright but as for the damage I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But Bmw is trying there best.

My parts were ordered Monday so I am hoping the car will be repaired next week. Let's hope this becomes the common theme for all those waiting for their M3s and M4s to be rectified and delivered. |

Just asked my CA, he said the diffs are on their way by plane and will be here in less than a week. Also asked him what would happen for servicing the diff since it will needs it oil replaced after another short break in. He will revert back to me tomorrow.

Man, do I feel fortunate to have this recall happen after I got back from European Delivery! Regardless, I found out less than a week before my Performance Center delivery date and had to cancel a non-refundable one-way flight to South Carolina.
I was so bummed, that I ordered 1:18 scale version of my M4 so I at least have something pretty to look at while I wait, haha. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had BMW do anything to make up for the money they lost on the canceled flight??? |

I think at least one forum member on this thread was in the same situation as you and I believe his/her dealer refunded or credited towards the car the cost of the flight.

I wish my car was still at the VPC, maybe then I would get an estimated date from Genius. |

I did a euro delivery beginning of June. My car's been at the VPC since June 29!
I heard from BMW customer service today that parts are finally showing up by air freight. I can't count how many times I've called them for updates. |

I'm lucky that I was able to complete my ED, but no ideas of the impact on my re-delivery. |

A BMW rep just called me over lunch. He mentioned that my vehicle is at the Performance Center awaiting replacement of the rear differential. The part has been confirmed to be at the center for installation, which should happen this week or early next week.
Once that's installed the delivery stop will be cleared and they will either schedule a new Performance Center delivery, or ship it to my nearest BMW dealership at no charge. This may have been mentioned somewhere else in this thread, but the rep also said that the "recall" was in no way a safety issue, but more of a quality issue. He basically said there was something going on with the existing differential that caused accelerated wear that'd cause it to get louder around 10-15,000 miles. They obviously don't want that so they're correcting it before it gets worse. Oh, and they've also agreed to reimburse my canceled flight! If anyone wants to compare dates, my original European Delivery date was June 9th. I dropped the car off in Frankfurt on June 15th and had a Performance Center US delivery scheduled for July 27th. My differential work scheduled for this week. |

So if this affects vehicles produced between May and July, how would BMW know that this accelerated wear occurs at the 10,000 to 15,000 mile mark? Has there been that many complaints let alone owners that have put on that much mileage in the past two months?
This doesn't make sense. |

If any of you are doing ED and are affected by the recall, I suggest you contact the ED Specialists at BMW NA directly vs going though Genius or your CA. My 2016 F80 M3 was supposed to be delivered on 8/1 but like others I was affected by the diff recall.
The ED specialists were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ease the situation to the point of approving an F80 M3 rental (to keep my ED experience as authentic as possible). I'd also like to think they were influential in expediting the repair of my vehicle. Instead of renting an F80, I actually got to take delivery late Monday! In the last 48hrs I've had tons of fun - in my OWN car - driving 700+ miles through 5 countries and the "go to ED mountain passes" (Stelvio, Gothard, Furka, Grimsel etc). I'm trying to get another 300 on it tomorrow so I can get it serviced prior to going to the Ring this weekend (hit me up if any of you will be there). It seems like the recall and fix is moving in the right direction. I met an M2 owner on Monday who was also able to take his car. Hopefully BMW makes good with everyone else asap. Hi Team,
Just got the news on my "Delivery Stop" here in Australia. To be honest, I'm quite concerned about the car's long term integrity. BMW can sometimes be very pro-active, and then decide to be deaf when it suits them. I have ordered the car (it is being held by BMW Australia) but I probably have the power to re-order the car now. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I realise to some degree, that I am being a little emotional right now.... I hate buying a car that has had an issue with it (but my idea of perfection could be inappropriate!).
