Agree to disagree - I thought it was another Alien franchise flaming bag of poop. It started of SO strong, including adhering to the canonical technology and look and feel of the original Alien film. The story was a huge fart, and frankly the entire 3rd act was a rehash of one of the worst films in the series - Resurrection. And spoiler alert - the "Ash" android SFX were awful. I can't figure out why this hasn't been done yet... ALIEN: LV246 Timeline: Between the start of Aliens (e.g. director's cut when Newt's family stumbles on the engineer ship and her dad gets egged) and when the space marines arrive (e.g. the period in which the colony is wiped out). Story: The terraforming colony's last stand. Contact is lost with WY HQ. One survivor, Newt. First act: Newt's family stumbles on the engineer ship and her dad gets egged. Dad "recovers" from facehugger fun, birth of new xenomorph, get to know the main cast. We get more on Newt and her family, and what happens to her dad pre and post birth. Her mom and brother get it next lol. Xeno this time though, surprise, is a queen (you know, like how queens are born into bee colonies). Second act: Queen xenomorph grows up, makes eggies, starts to make the environmental reactor its home, kills and captures colonists for more eggy time. Colonists get impregnated and pasted to the walls of the reactor. We actually get to see how this works in this movie. e.g. people being captured for incubation, rather than killed. More non queen xenos are "born". Some fighting happens, colonists learn about what they're dealing with. Colonists figure out how their equipment can be used to kill and track xenos. They learn all about the fun acid blood. Newt figures out how to hide, where, and when. Third act: War. The colonists are divided, separated, and taken out group by group. The xenos learn how to navigate the reactor, in the walls, pipeways, etc. The colony is decimated, Newt survives. Epilogue: We see WY HQ, top brass talking to Burke about contact loss with LV246, why the colony is important to WY, and him reaching out to Ripley. My ranking for Alien films: 1. (Tie) Alien and Aliens 2. Alien 3 3+. Feh |

Went in blind watching Long Legs, quite good and a bit different even though the trailers supposedly compared it to a famous film.
Trap was alright. I felt that the writing could've been done better but Josh definitely tried to carry the film. I don't care about the nepo outrage (who wouldn't wanna give their kids the best advantage in life?) but it was inappropriately done here and distracted a bit from the movie. |

Watched BODERLANDS. No wonder it was a huge flop. It sucked big time! The video game is actually quite good. 2/5 and that's just for the nice special effects. visuals.

Watching this simple oldie as it's on now on this rainy overcast day, easy watching entertainment with sales rep Mann in his penny wheeled Plymouth dodging a strange truck driver with a grudge in the days of low tech and no mobile phones.

I remember my first mid working departures off LAX. After years and years of arrivals where the traffic died down around 1a, I kind of expected the the same thing and brought my iPod with a movie I was going to watch between aircraft. Man, oh man was I in for a surprise! Every one that landed between 2200 & 0030ish decided they wanted to leave starting around 0030! I was busier than a one-armed paper hanger until my half (we split the mid between the two of us) was over! I never got to see any of that movie! Sure was fun working all that traffic by myself!

Jeremy Renner was just as good as Matt Damon in the Bourne series of films, he's top notch in the Bourne Legacy.

Subservience was surprisingly good.
