Going to sit steady around 20C (69F) daytime with 9C (48C) nights for a few weeks. It keeps threatening to rain but still very little. The grass has a slight green hue instead of brown at least.
Our Oktoberfest in KW runs Sep 27, 2024 – Oct 19 this year. It's normally just 1 week but they look to be stretching it out to get more people into it. Turn outs definitely took a hit a couple years ago with covid. |

Decent beach day, widely scattered showers, light southerly, highway road construction delays the biggest drawback

The not-even outer bands have already dumped 4.08" into my rain gauge at the tree farm. There were two tornado WARNINGS there before noon, and the region is now under a Tropical Storm Warning despite being a two hour drive from the Atlantic and this storm not even forecast to come up the coast.
I saw a report from Tallahassee that they haven't had a hit in so long that there's old-growth trees everywhere right next to the utility poles just waiting to be toppled and knock them into the 19th century for months.....

Hopefully they prepared, left or both.
Also going to be bad into GA and places further north that will get insane amounts of rain. I'm getting tornado warnings on my phone for where we live in SE FL and flood warnings for our place in Asheville, NC.

It's been a doozy starting yesterday. We've gotten about 4.5" in the past day and another 5" or so are expected for the next 24 hours.
So far, I know of three hospitals I manage that have flooded. Cath labs, CTs, and MRIs in water. And the storm hasn't even hit yet! I've got some long hours in the queue... I'm from the area (North Georgia), but I moved back from Tallahassee after being there for about five years. It's a congressional hearing to trim a tree in TLH, never mind cut one. Canopy roads with the Live Oaks and Spanish Moss were my daily drive. All power lines are above ground. This is going to be interesting here in the upcoming hours. |

Latest I saw from NOAA is forecasting up to 18 inches of rain in my area.
First that I've seen a warning like this... |

Just my luck that my DW started a new job last week and won't have vacation time for a year to take a trip down to SC and check on the tree farm.
Edit - The rain gauge is up to 5.51" now.....

My area in the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area) is very pleasant this week. Clear with highs in the mid-80s today. We had so much rain the past two seasons the reservoirs are nice and full.
I took a hike with my daughter this morning and got this photo. |

Windy here (E TN), some rain still and more to come. Power just went out. Temps comfortable, so not going to worry about anything except friends in FL, GA, etc.

It literally just broke 70 F as I was checking the temperature outside, for the first time this week.
Overcast now, with occasional showers and a high of 72 F forecasted for this afternoon.....
