Abelour is good stuff. I had a bottle of the A'bunadh first then had the normal 12 later on. Both excellent.

Tried a margarita recipe I found earlier this week that did not include triple sec.
Quote:
2 ounces (1/4 cup) tequila
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) freshly squeezed lime juice
3/4 ounce (1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons) agave nectar or 1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) Simple Syrup
3/4 ounce (1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons) cold water
1 slice lime (sliced crosswise into a wheel)
3 tablespoons kosher salt, optional

Shake the tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, and water vigorously with ice and strain into a chilled rocks glass or coupe filled with ice. Garnish with the wheel of lime.

Not bad, but I'm not overly impressed. Need to cut back on the agave syrup or cut it out altogether. And this was a recipe for two. Not so much, I think. Maybe one good drink. Next I'm going to try just the tequila and lime.

Argh, now you post this. We were just up at the liquor superstore earlier today. I grabbed some tequila. I'll have to wait till next weekend to get up there again. I looked over the rum selection and I don't think I saw this. But that was at Friar Tuck's, which doesn't have as wide a selection as Binny's. I bet Binny's will have it.

I'd check with the largest liquor store in your area. But also, make a list of these, and take them in to your local stores for a special order. It'll be worth it.

Went today...but they were closed. Don't people drink Sunday morning?

Different approach today...red wine, brandy, triple sec...fruit. Nice summer sangria.

For margarita's, just remember 3,2,1.....3 parts tequila, 2 parts fresh squeezed lime juice, 1 part triple sec. Haven't tried the agave syrup yet.

We didn't have "church tacos" Friday night, instead went to another church's fiesta for dinner. Beer garden only had Bud and Bud light. It was a fund raiser and all, so I did my part and had 2 Buds. Before we even left my head was starting to hurt. . . Sunday we went to a birthday party in the park, and somebody offered me a Bud Light. I stuck with plain water.

Took another trip to find some Plantation...another trip alluded. Came home with these. Probably best...since I need to pony up $500 for a new windshield.

Picked up bottles of vermouth, brandy, and prosecco for the Mrs.

Here's her drink of the day...some Peach, lime, orange crap with the prosecco. Don't know what it's call...so we'll just say it's a fufu drink.

For a killer margarita I love a nice reprasado tequila. 1 1/2 shots with half an orange, 1 lime, a tablespoon of agave and a little floater of triple sec. Such a perfect combo.

The 1/2 orange bit sounds interesting. I'll have to try that.
